Re: Roth V Cov - Latest
bs 24 mose 17.. is a result . So with a few mins to go it looks like cov will be at the bottom of the table today!
This is not a good start, so all bluster and propaganda aside, i am VERY worried, not only by the loss, but by the lack lustre performance. Well thats how it sounds on the radio.

So we are at the bottom of the table, not even scoring a try.
Hmmmm so we have to get behind the team, but how hard it is to remian positive.

Me to..

It was always going to be tough, no doubt about it. BUT we didnt create a try and lost by a massive margin, 4 trys to nil! The margin should not be that big at such an important stage of the season, and in such an important game of the season.

Next weeks game is EVEN more important now, it is a MUST WIN game, no doubt about it. As it stands next weekends game is the most important game for Cov since Wakefield.

Come on COV PLAYERS.. where is that COV DOG?!?

Played 23, won 5, drawn 1 and lost 17. How on earth are we supposed to stay positive with a result sheet that looks like this. The last game we won was against B#S and that was the beginning of Feb.

Re: Roth V Cov - Latest
Yesterday was awful, the only thing good about the trip was the Rotherham food!
After a better performance against Nottingham last week yesterday was an absolute disaster. The players (aside from 1 or 2 who will know who they are) didn't show up to the game, I don't even think really that the coaches can be blamed yesterday purely on the basis that each of those players seriously needs to take a look at themselves as a professional and question why they are playing, they need to do some serious growing up and step up to the mark, yes maybe tactics or team selection can be questioned but an indivduals passion/motivation to continue at this level and even just play the game should be a natural drive. Cov means nothing to most of them and they will come and go but as pro players where was their passion and hunger to win....left back in Cov I'd say as it certainly wasn't in Rotherham. Then to see a fair few laughing and joking in the club house after, not even approaching the few fans that had made it up there added insult to injury. The importance of these few games seems to have slipped by them.
Back to school boy basics this week at training, less gym work, if your not fit now then the last few weeks won't make much difference but get out on that field doing basic passing, kicking, tactics and catching drills as for some reason the simples have been forgotten!!!!
Actually, the one positive did come in the last 10-15 mins when a few subs came on and did make a difference and we actually played a bit of rugby!!
We all half expected to lose yesterday, but it was the manner in how we lost, if we had fought tooth and nail and battled for the win then atleast we would have some positives going into next week, after that display I for one am as nervous as hell!!!! Bees will be confident off the back of their win, they have something to prove and by the looks of it, their players and squad clearly have more pride and want it far more than our lads in blue!

lets face it on current form cov were not going to win at roth, but bees winning certainly makes next weeks home game a must win. cov simply have to win the two home games agaainst bes & mose and beat one of them away!
lets home they can find some form and desire from somewhere.

Re: Roth V Cov - Latest
So hard to write this morning, I’m disappointed and upset. Disappointed with the result and upset with quite a few of the players. These players do not have enough in their locker; they are not good enough for this league. Their basic skills are inferior, they can not tackle properly, can not pass or retain the ball, and they do not possess the ability to read the game (out of position etc).

Yesterday’s performance was at times terrible, admittedly poor refereeing did not help, but we can not blame them for capitulating soft tries, where our tackling was nothing better than woeful. We also lacked someone to think ‘outside the box’, all season we have been saying the same old thing, we are one dimensional! Even if we were still playing now we would not have scored a try! It’s sad but true. And that’s why I’m getting very, very worried. I don’t know where our points are going to come from?

I was not expecting a win at Rotherham, I knew we would get beat and to be honest I was hoping we could scrounge a bonus point. Okay the Bees winning yesterday certainly does not help but it also makes it more difficult for Moseley. They would have expected a win, that’s put a spanner in their works.

Our attention must be to win our three games at home, if we can do that, I believe we can survive. Today I witnessed how a small but very vocal home crowd can lift a team and persuade the referee to make some very strange decisions in their favour. We need to do the same at BPA; we need to make it loud and intimidating, a fortress! You may laugh and scoff at my remarks but playing in front of a partisan crowd will lift our players, it will intimidate the opposition. As supporters we have a job to do, we need to get ourselves down to the BPA and create a gladiatorial atmosphere. See you there!

Roth fan in peace.

Laugh Out Loud - We are all one-eyed to a certain extent but I don't think the 'small' (not much smaller then your home attendances to be fair) crowd persuaded the ref to make any 'strange decisions'. We thought he was awful aswell, perhaps, like most most referees in this league, he was poor for both teams.

As for mocking our pitch for cutting up, it wasn't that bad to be fair, considering it had been smashing it down for 2 days. We still managd to play plenty of rugby on it.

I think yesterdays result for Brum was a bit of a freak and I still think they will go down, so keep the faith guys! I hope you survive (in every sense of the term) as Brum finished bottom so it should be them that makes way. But please please please don't blame the crowd, ref or the pitch for yesterday. We are really proud of our team who put in an awesome effort. Fingers crossed you'll get your chance to avenge yesterday next season (Sm128)

ParkerUSM, lets agree to disagree. The referee and his aids (loose term) were certainly biased towards your side. I agree he got things wrong for you as well, but we certainly received the brunt of it.

Where have I criticised your pitch? I have not even mentioned it! And where have I criticised your team? I have had a go at my team not yours…

Your team played very well, they were far superior, and that’s why you won comfortably. On yesterday’s performance and the one a few weeks ago, I cannot see you having a problem. I would like to say the same for my team but at the moment that is not possible. Good luck for the rest of the play-offs.

Trueblue you are right about loyalty. I have been saying the same for some time. Do we have one player we can truly call a Coventry Kid. When we did, they knew that they had their friends and the community to face if they failed and they had self pride. The players we have are carpetbaggers who will play out their contract, or leave if an opportunity to move presents itself.
Laugh out Loud. Re one dimensional. Can you tell which dimension that might be? (not having a go at you, just irony).

"admittedly poor refereeing did not help"

Oh please. Bog off. Poor refereeing my ar$e. Ron said it all when he gave the facts. Played 23, won 5 drawn one.

I'm fed up of people blaming the referee for what amounts to a pile of poo on the field from the players.

LOL whether the ref was any good or not, the stats dont lie. the team that Maynard has signed is not good enough!
I really hope we can stay up so that once he has gone we can start a fresh!

Get rid of maynard now, there is time for Aggie and Gully to build up team spirit and the old Cov "dog"

So many people have said the same lately Al.

A few said there were 3 teams on that pitch yesterday. Rotherham vs Cov forwards, vs Cov Backs.

Most frequently used comment yesterday, "where's Kurt when you need him?".

Re: Roth V Cov - Latest
he should have gone months ago!! The stats have told their own story,

He can go on about how Green lied to him about the money available etc... But he signed this team and we are currently bottom of the table and have lost our first game in the play offs.

We need a shake up that will give the team a kick up the backside it needs. Get him gone and leave it to aggie and Gully to keep us up!
