Well i know we arent quite at the end of the season yet, but the fat lady has almost sung. So what are everyones thoughts for Player of the Season?

I think it could be a tough one, due to all the injuries this year. However for me, its clear, my choice is Lewis Barker.
He has played in all but 1 or 2 games, and had hardly been sub'd in any. he also stepped up a league i think to play for Cov, and has done very well in 99% of the games he has played in. He definately has a future at a higher level. Well Done Lewis.

Matt Tibbats: he has worked his way from obscurity to become Covs captain and outstanding player most games!

I agree with the comments on Tibbats and Barker and both have shown great improvement this season.
Waller at prop has also come on significantly this year.
Injuries have impacted greatly on the team since November - despite all these factors however - Brett Daynes has performed consistantly throughout the season.
He has shown leadership when other captains have been injured and never seems to run out of gas. His tight work compliments the open play we see week in week out and for me he is our player of the season
When the injured return and the new signings bed in further plus possible newcomers, we may well challenge next year.
The need to retain reliable goal kickers was illustrated yesterday once O'Connor picked up his injury.

There's always a choice, the shame this year is that some of the best players have been injured for too much of the season to be realistic contenders. The good thing this season is that players including all listed so far have stepped up and taken their chances to shine. For me it's between Barker & Daynes, with Barker just shading it.

I blame the phone.

Can't identify anyone sufficiently outstanding in his play, consistency or character to warrant a nomination.

So Roger Fox. You don't reckon Brett Daynes, Matt Tibbatts Lewis Barker and a whole host of others have shown enough consitency and character to merit any congratulations this year?

Wow your hard to please.

Remember that film "Kellys Heroes". That tank sergeant played by Donald Sutherland always said to his gunner..... "Hey Moriarty. Quit with the negative waves man".
Maybe you should sign in under the name "Moriarty".

A little bit of praise goes a long way you know.

player of the year for me is stretched a little to include the medical team who have had one of the busiest seasons for years and continue to get new patients to deal with.Well done to all of you

Anything short of unalloyed adulation on this board seems to create negative reactions. Some of our players work hard, try hard and give of their best, but for me no one creates that buzz of anticipation when receiving the ball, or stands out in the tight and the loose,or changes the game at a stroke.High expectations maybe but they are mine. I have not specifically criticised any of your nominations.

Can I throw another name into the ring - Adam Parkins.

Consistent, even though pulled back by Saints occassionaly, some great bullocking runs, always involved in the tight. Has certainly developed in his time with Cov !.

I agree, have always rated him form when he first came to the club. He 'does what it says on the tin'. The main reason why Baker gets my vote is that he has rarely (if ever) been sub'd, or missed a game, hes played well, and stepped up a league. Where as Adam even though playing well is from a higher league, and for me recognition is good to be given to a player who has done well after playing in lower leagues, and steped up to the plate.

I agree, there are several players who have stood out this season, including Lewis Barker, Ben Russell, Matt Tibbats, Alex Nash (always worth the entrance money).
No one has done what RF has been looking for, although I have always felt that frison of excitement when Tommy (I can't remember his name - the little fellow who is normally on the wing and came to us from Rugby, I think, and has been injured for most of the season). He reminds me of Billy Wizz (Jason Roberts).
For sheer consistncy and the realistic prospect of him making the hard yards, getting over the gain line and progressing possession, I would nominate Brett Daynes. He doesn't get noticed much, he doesn't neccesarily get the accolades, but he is always positively consistent.

Tommy Harris, Not really able to be considered this season after a string of injuries and a lack of playing time. Let's hope hse is fit enought o be considered for next season.
