19-10 half-time. Excellent try under posts from Scott Tolmie after James Stokes break, Maisey converting. Cov doing okay against a Jersey side playing at a fast tempo and running everything.

final score 26-17. Very good second half by Cov, but for a few handling errors could have been closer. Penalty count evened out in second half and Cov strong at the finish.

It was decent. Jersey were large, but their lack was not as good as last season, Cov's defence was very good. Cov gave away too many penalties in the first half (8-3) and two Jersey tris came from sequences of three). Cov looked fitter as the game went on.
1075 crowd, not many from Coventry, and the neutral I was standing by (a munsterman) didn't believe there was a division between the teams.

Sounds fair. I imagine that there will be one or two bigger defeats inflicted down there on Championship teams.

Well done guys. Great effort!! Jersey at home are a tough team to beat.
That's a good result and could of been closer. Let's take the positives from this game and take it fwd.

Yep. Plenty of positives. Unlike last year we didn't fade and if anything finished the fitter of the two teams and continued to run the ball from deep until the final whistle. Jerseys pack didn't move our scrum and we even pushed them off the ball towards the end. The backs look lively and will be in the faces of opponents this season. We did however give too many penalties away especially in the first half and we will need to get on the right side of the ref if we are to push for promotion. First up tackling was at times poor but can be forgiven as it was the first real test against decent opposition with a new formation. All in all a good run out and exciting times hopefully lie ahead.
