Nearer the Grewcock era then. I was there at the same time as Johnny Gray and David Moorcroft!

Very sad and shocking news indeed. Condolences to all his family, especially to his brother Andy who played for our club in the late 80s and early 90s, and close friends.

Steve would have definitely taught Danny Grewcock as he trained the rugby teams in our first year (1984-85) when Dan was an ever present in a strong first XV. Steve was a really lovely guy who had time for everyone, whatever the standard of their rugby skills. I seem to recall he left to become a police officer? RIP.

I was there at the same time as Rob, and that's how I remember him too.

Looking back I'm sure that it was always obvious that I'd never be even close to good at sports, but he always seem to find time for a positive word of encouragement anyway. A good teacher and a decent man, I'm sure he will be much missed.

Russ.

Good to see that the organisers of the Warwickshire Cup held a minutes silence for Steve today.
