Afternoon everyone

Just to update in as much as we know Caldy are having a pitch inspection between 2.00pm and 3.00pm tomorrow.

As soon as more is known, I'm sure this thread will be updated.

Hope that helps.

Would have thought they could have brought forward the inspection given the weather reports and the pitch being so open?

I imagine they will be as keen to play as we will be, so will be keeping their options open as long as is possible.

We'd do the same with all the hospitality that we have booked for each home game, to be fair

Caldy on Twitter shown photos if pitches blanketed in snow, from the comments on there I'm not hopeful unfortunately

Any idea when Caldy will be doing a pitch inspection, and the likelihood of the game being on?

Seems to be much warmer on the Wirral than here, but that isn't saying much!

Come on Cov!

Should hopefully be fairly mild Elthamians by then.

Hi All,

I've stickied this and merged it with the other Caldy thread so nothing is missed.

Any updates, please post here.

Cheers,

Once called 'off' it is off, whatever the subsequent conditions.

If called 'on', it is always just on at that point, and can be called 'off' at any time after that until the match is over.

The only point when timing becomes an issue is (after discussions between the clubs) is that if a club fails to call it off by the time when the visiting team would travel, and later it is called off, the cos of wasted travel for the team may fall on the home team.

Therefore, unless it is totally obvious that it would be off, there is no point the home team calling it off or on before that reasonable and agreed travelling time.

With the conditions generally around most of the country, there is also the little matter of getting there !

It is not just about the pitch, it is about the stadium and approaches. It is about the opposition and fans being able to travel. The weather might be better up there but if the pitch is frozen now (I don't know whether it is) I doubt it will improve by Saturday. It's not just temperature, but wind and the wind chill factor keeping ground temperature low.

You would hope sense would prevail and they would play on the 31st and not the final weekend of the 6 nations. They would get a bigger crowd which I am sure is important financially to them?.

The regulations require it to be on the first available weekend.
