PLYMOUTH ALBION'S RFU Championship Promotion Play-Off match against Cornish Pirates at Brickfields Recreation Ground will be shown live on Sky Sports HD on Friday, April 16 (7.45pm).

The West Country derby is a must see clash for rugby supporters as the battle to win promotion to the Guinness Premiership hots up in this Round 5 clash.

Sky Sports HD will also show a Promotion Play-Off semi final on the weekend of May 8 and both legs of the Promotion Play-Off final on May 19 and 26.

RFU Tournament and Competitions Director Terry Burwell said: "The live broadcast of this match is further testament to Sky Sports commitment to rugby as part of the Rugby Football Union's five year agreement (2010-2015) with them to broadcast England international, LV= Cup (Anglo-Welsh) and British & Irish Cup rugby. Plymouth Albion against Cornish Pirates will be a gripping encounter with plenty to play for."

Martin Turner, Sky Sports Rugby Union Executive Producer, added: "We showed one of the best domestic games of the season when we broadcast Bristol against Coventry and we are looking forward to another great Friday night of Championship rugby. They don't come much bigger than a Devon against Cornwall club derby, especially with promotion at stake."

I thought the t.v. crew had their own site on top of the P.A. hut. if not then their taking over the Redrow would deplete our ability to create the same atmosphere surely and who pays the difference in the takings as I understand that this season sky aren't paying for the Championship coverage, is that right ? the corporate attendance is going to be disrupted as well I feel.

For all that it should be a great evening match, a good job we have the necessary lighting for t.v. coverage.

If everyone can remember a few seasons back,the camera crew at the Baa-Baas v Combined services game were based at the back of the Redrow with the supporters around them.
If you cannot get in the Redrow you are welcome to come into the Scoreboardend with the poor people for a small cash transaction.

I got a season ticket for redrow so they had better let me in. Even if I have to work the cameras!!!!

Normal Sky coverage has cameras everywhere. It'll be interesting to see how they cover the match, Let's hope we have a better result than the last time we played to a sky audience! Didn't we lose as Doncaster?

Cameras everywhere and a big logistical operation - you may recall that they closed the main stand at Donny (which would have helped to make the crowd look bigger - not a problem for this game methinks) and they had a lot of support gear - at least three truckloads of stuff.

I would like to see a big screen set up. It was a bit disconcerting when play stops for 5 mins while they do a vid ref plus i would like to see where Albion will squeeze it in for next season!

If I remember correctly the Pirates film crew built their own mini platform near the main entrance dodn't they ? can't see Sky doing that though.

If Sky do go in amongst the fans in the Redrow a few extra air horns nearby will add to the general ambience along with the usual Albi call.

In reply to B.Ps post about Pirates TV, I watched the Bristol game on Pirates TV last night and I think they said they would not be broadcasting for the Albion game.
