Re: Herbie Stupple
It seems like he has maybe decided that he won't make the top grade after Exeter let him go so he's going for the money instead, difficult to argue against that I guess.

I did hear that there were clubs after his signature, that's life as we know it.

Re: Herbie Stupple
It's a shame if true and that we couldn't sign him following the end of his loan stint from Exeter. I'm of the opinion that he has had a good season unlike some who has given the side some badly needed go forward with his ball carrying ability.

Thats bad news I thought he was the best of the loanees.
Still good luck to him, without him I think we would have sruggled to reach safety this season.

Hear, hear. "Always going forward" got my vote for (Y)PotS.

Sadly, now to be filed under "Promising Old Boys".

Re: Herbie Stupple
Nothing on jersey rufc site, but I would recommend you look at their site, Albion really takeshould aleaf out of their book, particular you should look at their match reports. Also if you want to know the name and details of any of the clubs management all their names and contact details are there for all to see.
A lot to learn.

Quite right p.a.f. it's something that we feel might be welcomed by others online, keeping us up to date if you like.

It's as well to talk rather than wait for an announcement in the Herald for me, also it keeps the web site open and free to put it's feelings, giving us a platform on which to work.

Well done.

Could you please elaborate on what you mean about 'wanting' to play for the club?

I'm sure you'd find a load of 18 yr olds and/or level 3 or 4 players that would love to play for the club. Would they bring success? probably not.

If by 'wanting' you mean players that are willing to sell themselves short(of their market value) then there isn't many of them about and you certainly need to be able to put forward an appealing vision for the club to get them to buy into it.

Bear in mind that there are many factors influencing a players decision on clubs. Its not all about although in a short career its the greater part. There's also (among others);

Chances of game-time
Exposure to higher levels of the game
Success for the club
Quality of living in the area

The reason i ask is saying 'want to play for the club' is as exaggerted in a negative way as the overstated (in my opinion) joy that supporters show when a player signs.

For me, supporters get on too much of an emotional rollercoaster regarding signings, Those involved, or that have ever been involved in it have a more balanced grasp of it.

Also bear in mind that a player that signs has most likely just left another club, The new club obviously appears the best option for them at the time and there's nothing to say that it won't a different club when the contract ends.

Re: Herbie Stupple
As for Stupple moving to Jersey, it would seem to me to be a great place to live and work. I can only say having watched Jersey play about 2 years ago they were then playing a very good style of rugby, another interesting point we met about best part the team having lunch togther on the following day and they were seemed having a great time together.

narranarra i made that statement after listening to rumours & was rather hasty with my comments .im afraid feelings running high after that result at esher . the club needs to promote itself better to attract & keep the better players . look how many ex players are doing well elsewhere . if the club was more appealing how many would be still with us & would the attendances have dropped so much . i hope the club learns something from this season on & off the pitch big changes are needed to avoid a repeat .

Mentioning the pitch I think we should get together and dig up and relay our pitch so the team has a decent surface to play on.

Will be very good news if Herbie has signed for us, a very promising player who has given 100% this season and made a difference.

Well it is still a rumour, but it seems that Herbie has turned down Jerseys offer and is staying with us. Must say his parents seemed to be quite happy to smile politely when the question was put to them as they say in the stand yesterday.

Re: Herbie Stupple
Heard the same today, Herbie was apparently 'bullied Persuaded or threatened' by the whole squad to turn down Jersey and sign for Albion, and watching the squad drinking together and playing pub games together in the Sedden this afternoon, there is definetly a new attitude adopted by all of them. Nat has brought about a complete turn around among the team.
It was great to see them enjoying each others company.
There was none of the old sneaking off and avoiding contact. I bet there was a helluva evening down at the Dolphin.

All in all avery enjoyable afternoo ge together.
