Hard to believe the guy has been around so long and only got 100 caps. But factor in the downtime and it all comes out right.
What is certain is that he is virtually the only continuous link with our C'ship days and he has more incentive than anyone so see us back where we ought to be. Nat 1 is the comfort zone and we have to get back to Level 2 (warts and all).
Interesting to hear that he has lost weight recently (2 stone?!), so is actually not as big a unit as he was. But he's more efficient as he pulls in extra defenders going forward - and that means gaps elsewhere. Living proof that less is more and what doesn't kill you makes you stronger. He was in a pretty bad place a few seasons back as he looked down the barrel of the injuries gun. Full credit to him for sticking with the game and the club. Who knows where we'd be if he hadn't?
Well done to coaches/management (past and present) for sticking with the man over the years to forge an outstanding leader for the squad and talisman for the supporters.
Big ask today against Ampthill to make it 11 in a row. We've passed the unofficial target of our league tally (pre-deduction) from last year. Time to cement our second place and really put down a marker for next year.
Forecast for this afternoon is good, so turn out in your hundreds folks, and shout yourselves hoarse for the big fella at this milestone game!
