I don't think the laws have changed which require the 9 to put the ball in straight or risk a penalty for " not in straight.

Now -a - days the ball is placed straight into the 2nd row.

That being the case:-

1] What is the purpose of a Hooker ????

2] What is the purpose of an 8 man scrum ????

Sounds like Rugby League. Scrums are a farce there.

If the lawmakers don't get a grip they will ruin the game we love.
Forward passes, not straight at the lineout or scrum is ruining the spectacle.
