Next seasons opponents

It is early dsys, but assuming we remain in National 1 next season, then who "different" will we be playing?

The Championship table shows Yorkshire Carnegie running last with only 1 win, with the once dominant (in National 1) Hartpury just above them with 2 wins. [Coventry seem to be holding their own much better.]

Coming up from National 2 South might be Rams (only 1 loss so far) Henley are currently second. From the north it might be Hull and/or Chester.

As we begin the run in to the end of the season, it now looks like:

Hartpury (currently bottom) or Richmond could be coming down from the Championship.

Comimg up from ND2(S) as Champions would likely be Rams. Canterbury look like runners up.
Coming up from ND2(N) as Champions might be any of Hull (currntly top) Chester, Huddersfield or Fylde, with the second placed of these likely to face Canterbury in the play offs.

It's also interesting how the tables have changes since Christmas.

(Sm77)If Canterbury make it, we will have another long journey it is, by motorway, further away than Caldy!

We could do with one of the Cornish sides or Taunton coming up.

The fight to escape relegation looks interesting with what might be a crunch game at the death with Moseley entertaining Caldy.

Cambridge are also due to play Moseley in the penultimate round - all very tight.

We have two of the bottom teams at Brickfields as well, lets hope we don't have a shower before one of the games or it will be called off.

With one game to go, what we currently know is...

Either Richmond or Hartpury will be joining us from the Championship. Very tight. Depends on the last round.

Its highly probable (but not mathematically certain) that Ampthill will replace them from League 1. OE are still mathematically possible, but only if Ampthill lose to the Students (and don't get a BP) and if OE get a 5 point win. Very unlikely.

We also know that Loughborough Students will drop from L1, but the other 2 places are uncertain. The lowest 2 teams are Esher (15th) and Cambridge (14th). Both have away fixtures against mid table teams for their last match, but Esher would need a 5 pointer to be any hope. Birmingham and Caldy are also "at risk" and sit 13th and 14th at the moment - and play each other. The loser of that match will quickly be checking other results!!

Coming up from N2S are Rams, and from N2N Hull return. The last place will be decided by the playoff between Canterbury and Chester.

So ... any preferences ladies and gentlemen?

Hartpury of Richmond?
Hartpury might be a tad closer?

Which 2 of Esher, Cambridge, Caldy or Birmingham?
Caldy is the most distant, followed by Cambridge.

Which of Canterbury or Chester?
Both a fair distance to travel.

Hartpury winning today means it is Richmond. Will be good to visit the RAG again.

This time next week it will all be wrapped up in terms of relegation from the league. Sad to see any of those clubs go down.

Coming up, itís whether you want a weekend in the North or South East.
