Don't understand you lot, a few adds etc slowing you down, so what!

This is a free site to use, a great forum, some good topics, some commical entertainment at times, especially the bickering between GJ & PhilW. What else do you want ?

Normally I agree , but because these apear in different windows I have several times closed my main browserr instance without realising they are behind it and thus lost all the remembered setting and thus had to find and log into all 6 of the pages I allways have open.

ChiefBottleWasher, it must be annoying when you forget. But you can't blame Rugby Network, how else are they going to pay for us to have a free site. The only other way is for us to pay, perhaps as members and then we would have every right to complain about these add ons etc.

I use IE9 with Norton 360,no problems. The film thingy opens up behind the main screen ,but this is not a problem.

CRW, don't go, pls, otherwise they've won!! Stay and fight the good fight with the rest of us. Glad you've found a technical solution that works. Can't imagine for a moment the the bottle of rouge had anything to do with the rant! winking smiley

Could CRW have made a mistake?....the cause of the rant was a bottle of rough and not rouge.winking smiley

Trash free pages I love it.

LIke I said I have no objection to adverts (even if they are for for the worst kind of filthy loan sharks) what annoys me is that it isn't because I forget , it is because the adverts are in a different browser window behind my normal window so that I can't see them until after I close the main window.

BTW using firefox which I think used to be immune, but isn't any more.

Would be a great name for a pub though - The Keyboard and Bottle. Like it.

I'll take it up with our ad agency - anything opening a new window should be kept to a minimum and only be visible to unregistered users, not to those logged in to SN.

Thank you Jon, The firefox blocker has done the trick so also thanks to you Hohookee Chief.
Ads are fine, but ads that slow loading and open up windows behind the screen being used are a nono IMHO.

I think that is the case Jon, the problem is that many of the clean up utilities log you out so you have to log in when you go onto the site and therefore you get the ads before you've logged in. This certainly is what happens to me whenever I use CCLeaner which is an excellent free utility for deleting temp files and "etilqs (spelling??)" which take up a lot of space.

I share CRW's distaste for Sport Network advertising pay- day loans, you wouldn't take ads for drug dealers or call girls both of which probably cause misery to far fewer people than debt does. Legality and morality aren't always the same thing.

How do you know? Did you ask? Sounds like the voice of experience talking to me. Pity if they don't!!!

Trying not to sound smug, but I've had no problems with popups and pop unders using Safari on a Mac.
