Apart from no Don the glaring omission is LCD the best hooker in England by a country mile. As we have said many times the squad is not picked on current form.

Is there one single Chiefs fan out there who would rather see Dylan Hartley than LCD in a Chiefs' shirt ?

It’s not about Hartley who has been a fantastic leader under Jones! For me it’s the inclusion of Tom Dunn over LCD that’s completely mystifying

Would imagine Hepburn is Marler replacement and Boyce is in the apprentice category!

Nathan Earle? Woodburn has been tearing up trees for Exeter for the past two seasons - apparently form counts for nothing. Glad to see Alec Hepburn back in the mix, I assume Boyce is an “Apprentice” because he is very raw. Don Armand is another glaring omission!

Hatley England scrum coach formerly at Bath probable reason for Dunn inclusion as can be nothing to do with playing form !!

While Eddie J is getting the results, it's hard to argue with his selections. They obviously work for what he wants in his team. It might get more tricky for him if England encounter a slump, which the law of averages suggests they might at some point. All clubs will no doubt point to players in good form who should / could be in the squad, but I do think Luke, Don and Olly W are extremely unlucky not to have been included. Luke is young enough to yet make his mark, but the other two perhaps don't have the luxury of time on their side in international terms.

Eddie seems to have fixed opinions that don’t always make sense.

Why Brown, Haskell (when available), Daly and Ford (on club form).

Why not Woodburn, Roko (if fit), Devoto (in the Eng mix when he left Bath) and several @#$%& halves.

LCD has had a run with Eng and will probably move up to my ‘why not’ list. Dunn has had a fantastic season, is uncapped, but probably won’t make the final cut.

Meanwhile, will someone from Ex tell me what Simmonds has over Armand?

Think it was Laurence D who said that Eddie J avoids anyone the pundits push. Hey ho. England's loss is our gain.

I don't know about the pundits push, but I would have said Woodburn and Armand were worthy of inclusion in the squad on quality of their their performances.

Because of injuries this year will give us a good test of Eddie's magic. Up to now no one can really argue with his choices. However the performance of English clubs in Europe so far is putting some doubts if he will be able to maintain the meteoric success.
At least Eddie is watching a lot and giving exposure to fresh faces. Not all will succeed but to progress new blood is needed. From a small number of games Boyce looks a very exciting prospect, and maybe eventually a better option than his two club colleagues.
...........and perhaps there is a new role for Jack. On the England Rugby website he is listed as an "Inside Centre'!

Eddy Jones has coached England to 22 out of 23 wins. He has this thing about 'Test animals' and measures players against different criteria to us mortals. It seems to work,

Here is some parallel thinking - look at how our coaching team pick up players who are in the Championship or not performing for their club. In many, but to be fair not all, cases, after a season or so at Sandy Park they are transformed into high performance Prem. players. We don't give our coaches a hard time for some lateral thinking do we?

Mind you, my prediction is that England will lose to Scotland and Ireland in this 6N smiling smiley

Slightly O/T, but there is an extended interview with Don Armand on the latest Rugby Dungeon podcast which is worth a listen. He says a little about where he stands with England right at the start.

LCD left out over dunn is in my view poor management dunn is a good player and he is better then hartley but taking this into account you have hartley, george and now dunn ahead of LCD is nothing short of a crime

If Don cant get in now theres a back row shortage then v little chance in the future. The only way I can see it is if he goes on tour this year. Guess EJ prefers players born in this country (can I say that?)

Not quite sure that's true

Nathan Earle - Hong Kong
Mako Vunipola - New Zealand
Billy Vunipola - Australia
Nathan Hughes - Fiji
Dylan Hartley - New Zealand
Gary Graham - Scotland
Teiamana Harrison - New Zealand
Manu Tuilagi - Samoa
Denny Solomona - New Zealand
Alec Hepburn - Australia
Marcus Smith - Phillipines
Jack Clifford - Australia
Mike Williams - Zimbabwe
Ben T'eo - New Zealand
Semasa Rokoduguni - Fiji
Marlon Yarde - St. Lucia

And he has capped Don.

It looks more like he doesn't give a monkey's about where a player was born, only about whether that player is going to improve his team. Which is what he's paid to do.

Woodburn - great in the air and a great finisher but perhaps not complete yet as a winger

LCD the best tackler, carrier and all round nuisance in the prem..?

And Don - huge omission - brilliant player
