NZRU association with English clubs

I see that quins are the first club to reach an association agreement with the New Zealand RU. Given the standard of coaching I'm surprised that they have been selected (obviously Quins have a lot of money), but it's telling that an English club is first choice.

The question is, given our situation and how we arrange and run our team, my questions are:

Would we be recognised as an associate club (I should think so)

Would we want to (I'm not sure we'd want this, given the financial implications and reluctance to splash cash)

Which players would we want?
- I think that given the generally held opinion that we need a 15 and an 8 most of all, we would be well suited by Liam Squire (his haircut would definitely suit), Kieran Read (a man can dream), or Matt Todd and David Havili or Richie Mo'unga for fullback (and fly half in Mo'unga's case).

Isn't going to happen, given our history of squad development, but it be intriguing to see what happens and how we keep up.

'Quins have had a NZ connection for years. Player exchanges and coaching goes back some time - so just formalising what's there.

While that's true,NZRU are making a scheme of this, they announced it a few weeks ago, I would imagine quite a few clubs will go for it

Would not want anything to do with it, but that is purely a personal opinion and based on nothing but what I feel.

Yet another example of SH influence within our clubs. Time will tell whether it will be of benefit to Quins and the impact on their Academy players (will they get opportunities like ours do?).
