The Zebre Supporters extend a very warm welcome. Here is some more up to date information.
Any questions you have let me know.
Parma
The main square, Piazza Garibaldi has three bars dotted around it. As with most towns this is the most expensive place to eat and drink, and not the greatest quality or choice.
Head out of the square south into via Farini for good eating and drinking.
Tabarro, Le Malve, Dolce Vita, Gavanassa Club (evenings till late), Enoteca Fontana (the best place for lunch, daily specials – hot food and salads – and the best range of sandwiches)
Our favourite bar is Cantina Canistracci, best beer and selection of wine in the city. (Piazzale San Lorenzo) - Pepen is also a great little sandwich bar, close to Piazza Garibaldi in a little lane off Strada Repubblica (you can find Canistracci and Pepen on Facebook.)
If you only drink beer then the Mastif is a good choice, also with excellent "pub grub".
Dining
The "Tribunale" and "Del Gesso", both just off via Farini.
Culture
The Cathedral, the Baptistery and the church of San Giovanni just behind the Cathedral. The Steccata Church (alegedly the architect was Leonardo da Vinci) in Piazza Steccata.
The National Gallery and the Teatro Farnese (both housed in the Palazzo della Pilotta, behind the Parco della Pace in the city centre). Also the Museum of Maria Luigia and Bonaparte is highly recommended, this is close to the Teatro Reggio, again in via Garibaldi.
Walks
The Citadella (the old fortress walls to the south of via Farini)
Parco Ducale (across the Torrente Parma)
Along the side of the torrente – Lungo Parma – sometimes it even has water flowing.
Enjoy your stay!
