League 1 Competition In 2019
cast-Iron13 (IP Logged)

Will be,at the time of writing,an eleven side competition.

With 2 clubs,Bradford and York,leaving,on promotion,to The Championship.

without any club being relegated

Hemel Stags have now left the competition.

The RFL state that they will confirm fixtures for an 11 side league

HERE

However,journalist John Davidson,on Twitter,has suggested Mr Perez,he of Toronto

Wolfpack, may take a Boston based club into League 1

I can't see it,myself, but as this is rugby league, anything is possible

Rumour(s)

I hope our club is preparing for the future without funding from the governing body.

The sport is shrinking annually.

It's looking like Leigh Centurions may be in serious trouble and the longer it is dragged out the Super League club from 2017 may be in League 1 in 2019.

Whitehaven may be coming out of 'special measures ' and could be making some signings

but Keighley Cougars have had players leave without making any signings.

I wouldn't be surprised if the publication of fixtures for 2019 is delayed a tad.

Just a quick update.

Keighley Cougars should have paid their players for missed payments over the last 2 days.

Leigh Centruions are in special measures and cannot sign players/have their signings registered, and 2 players are refusing to accept pay-offs.Fulfilling their contracts would be 40% of the 2019 budget.

No one yet willing to purchase the club.

The club would just be the players as the LSV is rented - when the rent is paid, which it is by Man United Ladies.

The fixture list, out in a fortnight, apparently, will be interesting.

It noe appears as though the fixtures for the 2019 campaign will not be released until the last Sunday of this month.

Leigh Centurions and their future would appear to be the problem.

It may make the purchase of a West Wales Raiders season ticket even better value.

Rugby League is such a smooth running sport.(Sm6)

The RFL statement in full.

"The Rugby Football League have imposed a retrospective four-point deduction on West Wales Raiders for the 2018 season, after they were found to have played an ineligible player in two of their Betfred League One fixtures.

The club lost both the games Ė against Hemel Stags on July 29, and York City Knights on August 11.

The club pleaded guilty to breaching a number of Operational Rules regarding the fielding of ineligible players.

In pleading guilty the club have reached an Agreed Decision with the RFL and have accepted the four-point deduction. In addition the club have been ordered to pay the costs of the investigation, and warned as to their future conduct."

Not looking good for Keighley.

The guy who headed up Austria Holdings, but who apparently stood down for a female solicitor to take over the club,is facing a bankruptcy hearing on 4th January.

A short time ago,Steve Gill the former CEO at Castleford, who a few months ago was General Manager at Keighley, and whose return a fortnight ago led to the coach returning to Keighley,
has taken a position at Featherstone Rovers,a club in The Championship.

It seems that the Championship clubs are now involved with the 'great' idea from Mr

It may prove difficult for the officials if they jump to different levels, suddenly,or League 1 clubs progressing in the challenge Cup.

It seems Championship club,Sheffield Eagles, will shortly announce a dual reg agreement with

a Super League club, and a League 1 club.Last year they linked up with Hemel Stags and signed 2 of the Hemel players.

With Hull FC losing their 13th consecutive game, the supporters at Doncaster are in a state of panic.Should head coach Lee Radford lose his position the dual reg agreement will be
under further scrutiny.

Doncaster have given out 22 squad numbers, but of them there are some injured, none more so than Frank Mariano.

The Doncaster pre-season games,at home, resulted in heavy defeats to Hull and Leeds youngsters,12-72 and 0-60 respectively, followed by a loss to Super League side London Broncos 6-64.

The line-up for the opening game at Newcastle Thunder, and the quality of Hull FC players, will be interesting.

We travel to play at Doncaster on 26th May.

Today I have read the usual Saturday piece by Bradford owner,Andrew Chalmers.

In it he states the following - It may not be well known, but the RFL has recently changed the way Championship clubs get funded to make it more performance related.

One of the criteria now in place for Championship clubs is spectator numbers, so stand by for some interesting reported figures.

It seems logical,to me,that the same will apply to League 1 clubs.

With things looking to improve on-field,are there any suggestions how we can boost attendances at the same time?
