I know, just wondered if anyone had any inkling it was happening. I'm pleased with it.

I really like this appointment. Always good to see a local lad and player come through the ranks, do their apprenticeship, so to speak and land in the top role, well the under Deano. Like the way the falcons gave done things for the last year or two. Probably been going on for a lot longer, but coming more to the fore now.

Well done Mr Walder, and a well done to Deano, for putting faith in one of our own.

Onwards and upwards.

Still don't see how we have a dedicated defence coach/forward coach/lineout coach and we don't have a dedicated attack coach why combine two roles into one?

Most head coaches specialise in one of the disiplines otherwise not much pointof being a coach but quite a few directors of rugby like Deano dont do any specialised coaching or indeed any coaching at all.

Dave Walder was our attack coach if I'm not mistaken. I'd imagine he will continue having a role there as head coach.

Yes he was, but why have 3/4 forwards/defensive orientated coachs and have 1 backs coach/head coach

As a Sale fan who also has a foot in the Falcons camp, due to spending 5+ years in the North East and regularly attending KP, I am really pleased with this appointment and the direction that the Falcons are going in general.

It feels like the management team (owner, directors & DR) all understand the potential in the area and the appointment of a local lad who has learnt the ropes I feel supports that. I hope both Newcastle & Sale have strong seasons this year proving that there still is rugby north of Leicester!!
