Really strong side this, and if we win I can't see it being to different from the side that will face Worcester next Friday. Winning is key for building confidence so I'm hoping the boys put out a strong performance.

Good balance in the centres and quality half back combo!

hopefully back row carries hard!

Looks good to me. Witty and Young have consistently been selected as first choice lock pair this pre season. It must mean that they will be starting against Worcester.

I look forward to seeing the other team against Doncaster.

A young Edinburgh team who underperformed last year. I think we should go in expecting to win.

Curious with harris on the wing.

Has Goneva played a friendly yet?

Radwan has impressed but probably getting a rest and I thought Stevenson looked good on the wing...though I guess hes a centre aswell.

ANd I ask it all the time...so I wouldn't want to disappoint you....where is Kibirige>?

There is another game at Doncaster on Saturday therefore many of the players not involved at Melrose will be at Doncaster.

Geordie Falcon - saw Zach Kibirige with brace on hand last Saturday wandering round at the match.

I think Harris's best chance of getting into the team when it's at full strength is on the wing. Obviously lots of games and he will get time at 13 too.

Ah never, the lad has some bad luck with injuries.

Looks like a scrappy affair where we are making lots of unforced errors.

Sinoti and Vickers have come off early. I sincerly hope that they were not forced off.

Well just got home from Melrose and that game was bloody aweful. Not many players came out of that game with any credit. Tho I have to mention Alex Tait who was fantastic and if he doesn't start against Worcester it will be a travesty

And that's the first real credible opposition we've had so far thus preseason

I'll take the losing bonus. Pre-season games are more about learning than winning. Hope we learned enough.

About the only good thing about that Falcons' 'performance' was that it didn't happen next week. Very flattering scoreline as Edinburgh should have scored at least two more tries. The Falcons had no accuracy, deception or power with the ball in hand and got no change from a decent Edinburgh defence. Weir much the best fly-half on show.

As Deano said, that could be the kick up the @rse we need.

Didn't cope with Edinburgh's rush defence very well. Both sides rather poor handling. We couldn't get much possession. Set pieces OK. Agree about Taity but most others very low key. I think Cockerill is turning Edinburgh into Leicester look alike.

A nice drive up to a lovely Scottish Borders venue but the performance from Falcons spoilt the evening. Edinburgh should have won by a larger margin and personally really disappointed from what I saw. No Maxime Mermoz for some reason and a number of players haven't been seen at all so far therefore hopefully better things to come but for certain a much better performance than this will be needed to get anything out of the game v Worcester next week.

Better prep than walloping three lower division sides. It's about how they react as a squad with a number of key new players. COF

The results against weak opposition in Rotherham, Nottingham and Doncaster risked producing a false sense of superiority. As Deano says, this is a much needed wake up. Worcester is the real challenge as it was always going to be. Be there. Be loud. Get louder.

As much as I don't like the result it could be a wake up call for the Worcester game. smiling smiley

I've only ever cared about one thing in preseason: No one gets hurt.
If you come out of preseason having got used to contact again and with minimal injuries, you've won. Results are utterly meaningless.

got to agree regarding last nights performance, far to many basic errors and ill discipline, the backs played as though they had only just met, much better required next week

Another point I've just read Edinburgh nowhere near full strength resting 5 internationals and new signing Robbie Fruan.

Other team's results concern me a little bit.

Gloucester beat Pro 14 winners Scarlets 40-21 last night,

Saints beat Ulster and Glasgow

Sale beat Edinburgh and Castres

Wasps beat Connacht

Suppose it's more what you learn then the result but if we are losing to Edinburgh and other teams are beating top seed teams then that is a wake up call.

No disrespect to Edinburgh, they have a cracking coach and new system in place, may do really well this season but it's more that we where krap that concerns me.

Olmsted and another player,(might have been Mermoz) were enjoying nice curry in Haveli in Ponteland last night. Didn't look anything wrong with either of them.

It won't have been Max as he had to pop back to France for a family reason. No injury involved and nothing that should affect things going forward
