Maybe could do with the announcer reminding the crowd to be silent during kicks? Just a suggestion.

Yet another idiot jumping on the bandwagon excusing the abysmal Wuss performance. Please refer to other posts on the subject.

Having seen the announcer in action in the East Stand behind me at the pre-season games& on Friday night, I can honestly say I've warmed to him as his enthusiasm & passion is genuine

Aye, Justin seems a very nice bloke like, I've always enjoyed his encouragement

OK. I'll try to get used to the Shouty Man.

Two topics done to exhaustion last year
On the subject of kicking, if people want to chatter amongst themselves quietly I don't have an issue with it. Shouting or making noises to distract the kicker is a different matter.
Silence isn't totally necessary in my opinion.
It's not a matter of respect or lack of, especially if you are just chatting to your mate about the try or the foul in the build up etc.

My last post about this because I don't want to labour the point, but if this was "done to exhaustion last year" like you say then why wasn't anything done about it?
Kingston Park is the worst crowd in the league for noise during kicks. I know Newcastle isn't a rugby town so maybe a lot of people don't even realise what they're doing, but that's why the message should be put across during the game. They even do it at Twickenham so it's not a patronising suggestion. The way it is currently doesn't show your club in the best light.

..... noisy following dodgy decisions such as the awarding of the Wuss try and a similar decision during the Bath game last season when we were accused of heckling George Ford.

As a side note on this issue - people booing because they think that a decision is wrong really make me laugh. In my experience those booing the loudest don't actually understand the laws. They also seem to think that their view of any piece of controversial action is perfect, especially compared with a TMO sitting in a truck who has access to multiple views, slowmo etc.

As Monkey said, the only ground where silence during kicks is sacrosanct is Franklins Gardens.

Oh I don't know. I heard a story about a game at Welford Road, where a Leicester fan told an away player to be quiet as his own teammate was taking a kick!

I just thought there was subdued chatter i didn't think it was noisy at all

Watching the highlights. I noticed audible booing as Hodgson went for his conversion. Fine with me but there was a lot of talk on here the other week about ‘us’ booing a conversion and how much of a poor show it was.
I think people had blamed part time supporters and ‘football’ people being at the match (amongst other things).
Goes to show that it happens everywhere and not just us Northern luddities.
Arrggghh - this has posted onto the wrong thread, sorry!

I noticed the same watching the highlights. It's ironic how we are specifically criticised about both our announcer and our crowd noise during kicks, when other clubs clearly partake in similar behaviour. I'd encourage any opposition fans that think we are the worst for the crowd noise during kicks to listen to our last conversion to give us the lead. Audible shouting and boos to try and put off Hodgson. Give me a break!
