Wasn't it the 'John Smith's Bar'?

I was too young to drink then, and I don't remember the game.

Wasn't it also a Wednesday due to foul weather leading to a mid-end of season backlog of fixtures? I think we played Gloucester mid-week around then too.

Ah memories, what a season! There was a couple of Wednesday games and some at Gateshead which somehow weren't as enjoyable as KP, Leicester being one and I'm sure Bath. The very temporary temporary stand from memory was from Silverstone but I could be way off there.

Looking back you forget how good Sarries were even 20 years ago although we were non too shabby either. Fun times!

Yes I was there as well and I think it was either that season or maybe the promotion season when we had a beer tent to the north of the East stand. I can recall getting into the ground via this tent on several occasions and never showing my season ticket to anyone!

Aidan you are a £$%&? and a @#*£! for that thread title. I nearly swallowed my own knees thinking I had the day wrong, had missed the game, in some other way dropped a cod.

You are forgiven, a great write-up of how things used to be, and just check out the referee in that photograph.

It was during our move to Gateshead Stadium that we lost our unbeaten home record when we were beaten by London Irish. I still bear the grudge!

I was at the game, I don't remember much about the on-field action specifically (though I seem to recall Richard Arnold was stretchered off and taken straight to hospital), however it was a very hot atmosphere, and quite an intense game.

during one of the other Int Stadium games S Barnes was given a very hard time by a group on corporate who felt he hated the Falcons. I wish I'd been there to help rather than just hear about it later.

I think it went on to be called that but initially it was something far less professional, such as "Pete's Bar" or something like that

You think you had it bad! I wander over to have a look at what the opposition is saying and nearly collapse off my seat!

I note that no17 for us that day was Tim Stimpson
Was that game after he'd fallen out with Squeaky? And he was on his way out (to Leicester and greater things!)
Can anyone remember what the fall out was about ?
Or did Squeaky just prefer Stuart Legg?

That's a great little thread as a Saracens fan who is only 26 I was too young to remember it, but this weekend hopefully it will be another top quality game, only this time Saracens coming away with the win!

Safe travels to those making the trip and maybe best team win

My recollection is that Stimpson wanted us to play a more open running game but the side was more forward - oriented so he didn't see as much ball as he would have liked, so he moved on.
