Deserves an Immense Reception for showing True Loyalty to the Falcons.

Leads by Example and holds the respect of All his players and colleagues.

Would always want him next to me in the trenches!

Congratulations Will Welch on an amazing achievement at 27.

Subtle sales plug, Welchy has given a really nice interview for Sunday's match programme in which he talks in depth about captaincy, watching the Falcons on the North Terrace as a kid and the fact his grandad played 198 games for Leicester (a shock to many of us here!)

All joking aside, it was one of those interviews which didn't require any work at all on my part, such was the quality of the raw material.

Have to say I haven't always been a massive fan of his, but I have to admit he has been a class act for us and loyal to the club what I like. smiling smiley

To be fair there's a lot of Leicester influence at the Falcons so we didn't bt mind, great capt and leader. Hopefully we'll get the W as well

How refreshing to see a real club man. Our own Matt Smith makes his 150th tomorrow, increasingly rare these days. Well done to both of them

Which gets me thinking about how the game could be managed for the future. Some sort of direction from the RFU to favour player retention, maybe higher allowances within the salary cap for players who are either developed through a club's academy or have played a high number of games for their club? It would counter the wage inflation amongst the very top players a little & encourage more effort for clubs to develop their own players. These sound like good things to me.

But why would the RFU care really? All they will care about is Players staying in England.

The PRL decide on these matter and they don't like logical thinking.

Good idea Monkey but if we kept the players we developed , where would Leicester get their players? 😁😁

Re salary cap dispensation. Surely it not so simple as that -That would favour the clubs who have 'rugby schools' in their catchment area - The schools are a main source of player development after all.

I think it depends where you come from Trummy, in Cheshire and Leicestershire it is clubs rather than Schools that develop the players more.

Such a shame we have Barnard Castle School stuck in our patch then.

Off the top of my head we have the Tait brothers, Underwood brothers, Rob Andrew, Lee Dickson....

Barry Evans; Graham Rowntree; Dean Richards; Ollie Smith; Sam Vesty; Manu Tuilagi; Sam Harrison Ryan Bower - John Cleveland College (Hinkley) to name a few.
Checkout some of Sarries star players!

Point is valid....though I did think it was the case that Tigers directed kids to JCC so they had all the better players at one school.

You missed out Andy Goode, I think!

Same with Wygge Boys, the Academy lads are encouraged to go there, part of the reason we lost Charlie Walker to Quins

On the radio today they said his grandfather was Rex Skelton, now I understand where they got that info from. He's kept that under his hat for a long time!

Shame he never fancied following in his grandfather's footsteps (though there is still time ...)

Rex introduced me to weights in the Tigers training, I remember as a 16 year old wondering how is it possible to have a chest that big! Now I wonder how is it possible to stop it submitting to gravity!
