Article in The Times - interview with Jamie George - which gives the line out success rate of current Premiership hookers and our very own Scott Lawson is second in the list.

Jamie George 95.4%
Scott Lawson 94.8%
David Paice 94.4%

Dylan Hartley is way down the list in 15th.

(Figures gratuitously pilfered from the Oirish site).

For me Scott Lawson is right up there alongside Rob Vickers as a great club servant. You never worry about lineout accuracy when he's on the pitch. Apart from that he has a great engine and never stops.

Together with Ally Hogg, we've been so lucky to have these three loyal Falcon stalwarts not only posessed of great talent but acute rugby brains as well. The three of them have long been undervalued by so called pundits and national selectors. Thanks guys.

Table is in Times. Also a very good piece by Ben Kay on players' wages and loyalty. Essential reading.

Yes, Ben Kay's article gives food for thought.
Its a difficult pill to swallow that the game is almost becoming just a relentless business now. I often feel like a customer rather than a fan and the players could just feel like money making commodities if not carefully handled. Is this progress ?

Great stats but it would be interesting to see the minutes on the pitch/throws as Lawson hasn't been a regular.

To be fair, our lineout has really improved over the last few seasons. Cooper can have a few off throws but he adds so much around the park it can be forgiven.

Just out of interest, if hookers have poor throws, do the rest of the forwards ever have poor catches?

You never hear it mentioned, always the hooker's fault apparently.

Hooker generally gets blamed I guess but it's obviously a collective of thrower, catcher and lifter. It's just easier and more obvious to blame the hooker I guess.

As a second is always the hookers fault!

Last Sunday was a perfect example of the difference between Lawson and Cooper

Welch off
Lawson on

Cooper to flanker until we realised that the scrum was in bigger trouble so cooper back to hook.

After that

Lawson was hugely visible in defence chopping legs and setting up second phase ball and cooper spent his time trying to counter attack and push Exeter back and open up our attackkng game.

It was lovely to watch the two in tandem and see their pints of difference in action.

Both great players

Lawson just seems a little more visible cos of the shiny white dome but they are both top class and we are lucky to have them both
