London Irish sale progressing?

In an article full of weasel words "it is understood" that a group of enthusiasts may be able to take over the club soon, presumably with the intention of pumping cash into a hungry monster once they take over. If true it sounds good for London Irish, just have to hope that the consortium is ready to wave goodbye to large amounts of cash each year to make the club competitive.

Telegraph article courtesy of the LI message board.

That is a pretty quick result if it goes through. Unlike Worcester, the buyers don't also have to take on a huge commercial purchase, so that makes it a lot easier I suppose.

I hope this works out well for Irish. But i fear for them. The new "investors" will have to have very deep pockets as they are going to be loosing millions of pounds every year and thats only going to get worse due to wages increasing and the restructuring thats needed at the club. With other clubs they all have assets ie land irish dont. It will take years to turn them around and by that time they may have amassed huge debt.

Great for them if they have found the right people willing to take the risk.

Irish do have assets. They own the 63 acre training ground at Hazelwood near Sunbury Surrey

Somehow I suspect that not to be part of the deal, not at the amount of money being discussed anyway. As usual it is hard to tell the story from published accounts so you have to guess.
