Good proven Premiership winger although but odd with the cover we have but certainly doesn't weaken the squad.

Direct replacement for Agulla and EQP
Sensible signing

Totally agree with what’s been said he certainly won’t be a first choice starter but knows the way to the line and should fit in nicely as a decent squad player.

Maybe better than that as he will add a bit of versatility during the injury season. It will be good to have him competing for a shirt at KP.

Not hugely impressed with this one but I guess he gives us a bit of cover. I think he covers FB too??

Gives us some good cover solid signing I think. smiling smiley

Was reading an article recently about premier team ages and showed each teams average age that week and Falcons had the oldest average age in the league at 29.something and Arscott at 31 when the season starts and Mulipola (if true) certainly won’t bring that average down. I can only guess that because of budget restraints Deano in certain instances has to look at certain recruits who are nearer the end of their careers than at the peak.

Not a signing to make me leap up and down, but a decent utility back so he'll slot in OK

a quality premiership player

another positive uplift for the club

I rather believe Deano knows what he is doing. It's his job and he's good at it.

Decent signing, cover for the back three and EQP.

He scored 15 tries in the 2014 season. Definitely wouldn't regard him as just a squad player/journeyman. Will certainly add good cover for 15 and presumably isn't breaking the bank.

I might be wrong but pretty sure he left Bristol last summer.

I thought at the time that a mountain was made out of a molehill over this affair, it all seemed very strange at the time.

A good solid EQP signing who won’t be on a huge amount of money. I remember him playing predominantly as a Full Back. I honestly think he could end up our starting fullback. I like Hammersley but neither him or Tait seem to give you a lot of running from the back.

We will see how he gets on welcome to the Falcons Tom.

I agree he has some real talent. It is just the age. If he was 26 or 27 i would be really excited but he is 30 i think. I suppose he would still have 3 or 4 seasons if he stays fit. Definitely has offered x factor to teams such as sale in the past!

Welcome Tom. Good utility player who knows the league, EQ and has something to prove. In Deano we trust.

Chris1850 16 April, 2018 18:49
He was a good player for us (Sale) for a few years and he had one particularly good season where he was scoring tries, mostly on the wing, for fun I seem to remember. The manner of his leaving is of course well documented and was a sad affair. If he was still at Sale, it is likely that he would be well behind Solomona, Yarde and McGuigan for selection on the wing and certainly behind Haley and O'Connor at full back. However he does offer good cover in both positions and he would probably still be with us on that basis had circumstances not dictated otherwise.

He is a thoroughly nice bloke and I hope he settles in with you, though I suspect that will also be as a squad player now rather than as first choice.

Great game last Friday btw! Very best of luck in your quest for top 4 and look forward to us both competing at the top end of the Prem next year.

Cheers Chris, that's a good honest view.

Re: Tom Arscott
steve1888 16 April, 2018 21:22
I've always seen him as a winger and Luke as a full back?

Re: Tom Arscott
markismith50 16 April, 2018 21:38
I mentioned this to Dean when we made the announcement and he sees him as both a fullback and a wing, also with the ability to do a job at 13 when needed.

Re: Tom Arscott
Chris1850 16 April, 2018 21:41
He played on the wing primarily for us but he also covered at FB as well. Don't remember him ever in the centres though

Re: Tom Arscott
DB23 16 April, 2018 22:12
This is a smart signing and could provide competition for Alex Tait and Hammers at fullback as I think wing is well covered with Sinoti, Goneva, Radwan and Kibirige.

Hopefully, the start of a few good signings over the summer!

Try every 3 games or so isn’t bad plus he’s a proven Premiership player. Pretty good signing tbh.
