Craig Mitchell was an absolute aggressive warrior in that front row when he was in prime for Wales.
But that was sometime ago.

3 month stint, he'll give us an option at least and he'll be able to offer advice to the younger guys like Davison, Brocklebank etc

That would suggest Welsh isn't quite ready...but also that Davy Wilson is a major issue (which we're all aware of)

On a plus plus note i noticed that Sami Mavinga made Flats 15 this week. im impressed by the sudden rise of Sami this season from nothing last season. hes like a new signing.

I still think Sami has the skinniest legs ive ever seen for a prop forward.

But maybe he's beginning to find his feet slowly. Ill be watching his performances with interest.

As GF has said was a decent prop earlier in his career when at Exeter etc however was released by the Dragons a while ago and has struggled to find a club since. Was on trial at Bath last season when they had an injury crisis at prop but sadly a nasty injury put an end to that. Best of luck Craig and hope it works out for you and the Falcons.

We had an announcement of one prop getting a 4 month trial and now a 3 month trial.

Who is coming when those periods run out and will make us all happy?

Aidan

3 - 4 Months takes us to End of December January time.

By then we should know...

1
About Davy Wilsons injuries / career future

2.
If that Paul Mullen is up to the requirments,..

3.
If Mitchell is worth an extension to the end of the season...

4.
Welsh should have been well back and playing....

5.
If Mavinga has shown consistency in his improvements...

6.
Brocklebank and Trevor Davison pushing for England spots winking smileygrinning smileydrinking smileysmileys with beer

Club have had a good look at him, he’s played in two A league games. He’s here to provide cover. Is Mullan not as good as hoped?

Fingers crossed Welsh is fit ASAP. I am sure he was back in some level of training end of last season. He might have had a setback

It'll be interesting to see if he can still perform as he's hasn't for a long time, another Dave Wilson??

At the minute we're carrying a lot of unproven/out of form props (possibly 4 or 5??), if we get an injury to either Mavinga or Logo, we could struggle.

I remember no long ago we had almost a similar situation and ended playing a young prop duo of Grant Shiells and Kieran Brookes at Sale. They didn't do too shabby then and I'm sure we'd manage just fine again if we had injuries. Sometimes big things can happen from adversity.

Yes world class players have come from an injury to a club stalwart in the early part of the season.

If I recollect Jonny Wilkinson only started getting starts because Rob Andrew broke his collarbone...

You don't often get many surprises in the propping department though...as we've seen over the last 2 or 3 seasons.

Another season and we're hunting around for emergency options....again.
