Run-in looking bearable now

Next two rounds

1
Harlequins v Wasps
Glozzer v Newcastle

I reckon we get zilch out of that and Budgies get a losing BP

2
Newcastle v Saracens
Bath v Wasps

I reckon Newcastle get a rather emphatic zilch, and we get a losing BP

So, last game of the regular league
Wasps v Newcastle with us going into the game 8 points ahead.

Looks like Eliot Daly's kick made us safe!

There's a few assumptions flying around in there.

yep ... if next round us and newcastle score equal points (or we get more ) then the panic will be all over.

Just too early too start thinking we have reached the line yet

I'd hope we are targeting the Bath game as a possible win.

Quins were very good yesterday but when they beat Bath they were very average. If they play like that game a BP should be achievable at a minimum.
If they play like yesterday it will be tough.

The run in is certainly looking better than it was after 75 mins of todays game.

We can beat Bath the way they played yesterday. It's the way they'll play when we play 'em I'm worried about.

Assuming no bonus points, Newcastle will have to win all 3 of their remaining games now. Just can't see it happening. In fact I can't see them winning either of the next 2 games. Glos at home are an altogether different proposition than away.

And hopefully Bath will not be in a position to qualify for Europe when we play them, so less motivation

Usually when we play Bath. Bath play like Bath and we play like a shower !

I'll get me coat.

And bath's crum is pants. Saints had a penalty try off it in 5 mins and look what our pack did to saints last week!

Not sure what I would do about next week if I were in Dai Young's position. Use it as an opportunity to give some key players a rest? or put out as full a team as possible to try to keep the momentum going? Personally I'd be tempted to go for the first option given our lengthy injury list.

Next week is Catch 22.

Our priority HAS to be preservation of players for the Premiership. Dai has said that there guys in our match day 23 who are carrying knocks, which if we had a full squad, would be rested.

The other issue is - who is registered for the Amlin? The current squad listing on the ERC site is well out of date as Thommo and Shawsie are still listed.

BO look to be on the way back - they beat Clermont this weekend and with Harinordiquoy, Yachvili and Nyanga, have some real quality performers.

I would go mix and match. See which BO team turns up and if we are still in it with 20 to go, bring the cavalry on.

I'd have to say that we should put out as stronger team as possible...

Momentum and beating a quality side like BO would give the boys a massive lift...not to mention the lure of a chance of HC rugby next year, slim but still a chance. BO are a very good side, but don't travel well so we have a genuine chance of turning them over.
The following wknd we will know if we are safe or not, if we are then we can give the Amlin our absolute all with no pressure and the freedom to play that we haven't had for weeks...who knows how it would turn out, we a re due a little luck.

Full squad for me on this one..

I dont think we have the fit players to change the team that much!

Actually, having just looked at who is registered and who is injured I don't think there will be a choice. We'll have to just play whoever is available!

Dawson9 - that is exactly what I was going to say. Its not a case of who are we going to pick next week, more, who is available !!!

I agree with D9

Even if we had the choice I would really go for the BO gane with everything. We need some momentum and if they really dont turn up ( has been known ) then we are looking at a home SF.

I agree we have to survive but we have got ourselves into a battle that there is no coming out of until the last game unless they dont win anymore .

Its games like these that could if all goes wrong be the last big international club we would see or altternatively could be a path to a unbelieveable unlikely HC place for next year. Either way wrong to go into this anything but whole heartedly

More of a concen is we are now APril and no announcement on new owner as preferred bidder was supposed to be announced in March

I have a feeling that, with 2 last minute losses in their last two matches, Gloucester will be there for the taking by Newcastle who will be fighting for their (premiership) lives.

So we have to get, at least, a BP at either Quins or Bath.

Give Esher a call and ask if we can borrow their Ones for the weekend
