Maverick starts. TT ill. Big game for such a switch.

TC played well enough but looked knackered after 60 mins.

Not surprising, all things considered.

Missing Tommy made a big difference today, sadly.

Totally agree but then who would argue with that? His tight play was defo missed yest apart from his more obvious abilities. I think the loss of him, Jones and Thomson stopped the game being the contest everyone wanted. Ash was decent enough but didn't have the energy we've been used to this season from off the bench. And those three in your face tackling was missed as a way to gain parity.

There was a time in the second half where we desperately needed Ash's fresh carrying, charging onto flat balls into the guts of a defence - but he'd already gone off!

I agree, Ash is a good flanker, he is becoming a good starting hooker but where he is a difference maker is coming off the bench as a replacement hooker. He offers an impact that other teams do not have (exception being Sarries when George starts on the bench). It is also important that he offers it from hooker as a others can offer what he does on the flank.
