So I've just been thinking about the upcoming trip to Italy and how it would be nice to meet some people off this site at/before/after the game, and a bit of a brainwave came to me. We could potentially be walking past each other at all manner of games, and nobody is any the wiser. It would be quite nice to have some kind of identifier for members of this board, so that if they are open to others coming over and having a chat, they could display it.

So here's the pitch - a black beanie hat, with the drunken wasp logo embroidered on the front. The waspies.net web address would be in small-ish gold font at the back of the hat, with your personal username in bigger gold font embroidered above it.

The purpose would be twofold: a) for the sociable reasons outlined above, b) having the waspies.net bit would improve awareness of the site, potentially bringing more contributors to the fold. If there was enough interest, we could commission some kit company to create something like that and put it up for sale so that everyone can order their own.

What do people think??

I always wondered whether a meet up could be arranged at some point? I know we are a fairly disperate lot, but maybe there is a central location that could be arranged for a chance to maybe have a jar or three, eat ridiculously spicy food and talk all things Wasps!

Don't drink and can't eat spicy food - so I'll be recognisable as the one who isn't there smiling smiley

I'd be up for it, but living so far south it might as well be in France and having thousands of young children make it dificult for me to get anywhere.

But I like the idea of a personalised Wasps hat...

I already belong to the 'lonely old git who works from home and never socialises club'. But a hat sounds good.

Still got 3 shirts and one beret.

Very good memories of DW's. Made watching a shared and joyful experience.

I have a DW rugby shirt which inexplicably seems to have dramatically shrunk in the wash and an ancient fleece. I remember (I think) collecting the shirt from KtheB at a bar in Leicester Square. The shirt was made by STASH and I wrestle my way into it when I watch Wasps on TV and the fleece still gets worn practically every day. The fleece has a very nice machine embroidered DW logo on the left side and on the right side 'WASPS AWAY TEAM 2001/2002'. I have a couple of photos of the shirt and logo on my computer but I don't know how to post them here.

So far sounds like it would be a popular revival of the more social side of DWs then!!

I always thought that anonymity was a superhero's strength! How will we be able to effect change and put the world to rights if our identities are known?!? That being said a hat sounds good... maybe with a built in mask!!

Entirely up to you if you choose to purchase or wear one Daeg! If you seek anonymity, you need not open your wallet!

Nominate a match and organise a get together.

I organised the "Ride to the Ricoh" last season, for those who ride motorcycles. In the end, it was only Wilberforce and I that made it, but we had a great ride and bumped into several DWs on the day, Lord Grumpy, Ricohchez etc. Wilberforce and I are settling on a date this season and will run the 2nd, annual, Ride to the Ricoh. Looking like it'll be for the Saints match on 9th April. I'll be posting a thread about it soon to see if we can get more involved this season.

Maybe see if we can get a Drunken Wasps corner in the Fan Village, if it's running that day.

Good thinking Bandy. I have no idea what the DW logo is or where you'd get it - all I can see here is the waspies.net web. Anyway I never wear hats. If you can organise getting fabric name badges (like military style) with logo etc on there and we pay to get our usernames - then that could be put on Wasps tops for warmer days and coats for winter, could be a winner. Then nominate an area to linger for that embarrassing first date.....DW corner in fan village great idea - see us saddo's lurking there with our ID

The DW logo used to be a very intoxicated wasp on his back with a dimple pint glass. I remember when the parents sister and I had season tickets at AP that the far back corner of the vere suite used to be an unoffical DW corner. Back in the days before the smoking ban and when you left after a couple of drinks you felt as though you had smoked a 20 pack by yourself in 2 hours.

Edit: after a very short google search
