No more Italian Trips?

Changes to ER rules make it unlikely that Italian teams will qualify for the European Cup:
From the 2017/18 season, the top seven sides in the Guinness Pro12 will go straight into the Champions Cup for the following season, regardless of the nation they represent.

Furthermore, the Challenge Cup has been strengthened as a competition by EPCRs announcement that the winner will automatically take the 20th spot in the Champions Cup the following season.
If the Challenge Cup winner is already qualified through their league, then the losing finalist will take the 20th place in the Champions Cup.

Doesn't say, though, which team gets the 20th Cup place if both Challenge Cup finalists have already qualified.

Whilst we've had a good couple of trips tp the Italian sides, this is somewhat overdue.

Put the Italian teams in a competition where they may be able to be a little more competitive.

Hoping Wasps have a good run in 2018, Bilbao would make for a cracking weekend away for the Cup Final

Strangely, having the Italian teams made the pool more competitive between the other three teams (with all three having a chance to qualify/get knocked out in the last weekend), so it wasn't necessarily an advantage for Wasps (Or Connacht or Toulouse)..

The ten points "guaranteed" is a good start, and means that a runner-up spot is pretty likely but means that the other three teams have something to play for, so don't give up in the final couple of rounds (which some teams did in this year's tournament!)

Very good point, Marconi.

I never want to visit Wales or Scotland, so much prefer to have an Italian and a French club ion our group.
