Probably conditional on achieving promotion .. so there is still hope

Not devastated. Ulster supporters felt the same as many of us, he doesn't distribute enough to make him a truly great player. An improved Mike Brown. Fantastic player for the right team, but i love the fact we can field a backline full of good passers.

I doubt this. Lam said when he came in that there would be no release clauses. He doesn't believe in them. Players commit or don't was his chat i think.

Great signing for them. Never did think he'd go back for a crack at the NZ 15 shirt again, think that ship has sailed.

If we can keep WLR and Miller for another few years I'd be happy

Buggeration.
Cards on the table- I honestly prefer KB for our style, but I would have taken CP back in a heartbeat. WLR and RM are fine, fine options at 15, but one more superstar would have been nice.

Are there any rules for when a player can be approached or is it an unwritten rule? I always thought it was from the January onwards. Can't imagine Ulster fans being too happy that it's announced before the season even starts!

Massively disappointed and surprised but imagine Siale had something to do with it.

Always looked powerful and dangerous with ball in hand and ran some great lines. Looked pretty good in the ECC playing for Ulster too.

Disappointed but also wonder if it points to us not being as attractive financially as we might have thought we would be.

Surely that move will be dependent (a get out clause in the contract) on Bristol being promoted. Bristol is well funded and have a good fan base so could probably afford CP.. but I can't see him being happy playing in the Championship if Bristol don't get promototed.

Nope. Under Pat Lam no get out clauses for anyone. You either commit or you don't. Still can't believe we've signed him.

Or perhaps how much hes being paid by Bristol, given theres still a salary cap and other top names to keep happy. It may have not been financially viable but still doesnt mean we dont have the money we think we have

Agreed, although he's a bigger attacking threat than Brown, but wherever CP plays he has a wingers instincts. In other words if he thinks he could score he's not passing even if a support player is better placed. That takes away from his quality as a centre or fullback.
