Just booked in for both flights and chose ‘random seating’ and surprise surprise we are seated apart! Pop up appeared asking if we would like seats together £6 each (Sm77) then Hey Ho we can be seated together! No thanks
Shame it’s so convenient (Sm51)

Random seating is a good description! They’ve been under a lot of scrutiny lately for exactly what they’ve done to you.

Very sharp business practices.

The seats either side of us are empty but we have been placed 10 rows apart on the return journey and four on the way out.

That is not an usual practice for airlines. BA do something the same.

Not sure they do ! ...... you can change your seats as much as you like from 24 hours before the flight.

We've never been seated apart when flying BA. Allways been pre allocated seats together. They do offer the facility to choose your seats early, at a fee, or to change allocated seating at no charge from 24 hours before flight.
Quite often work out competitive too, once all the add on fees of "budget" airlines, costs of getting between landing point and destination etc are added in.

Let's face it, it's only the lack of more convenient alternatives that has scores of us choosing to drag our sorry ar$e$ over to Stansted at silly o'clock in the morning to fly with a dodgy airline, and then come home with the same dodgy airline at a pretty ungodly hour Sunday night. Needs must!

Actually flying direct to La Rochelle tomorrow seems like a great option even if it is RyanAir. We fly out on Saturday, 7.30am on Easy jet from Luton to Bordeau with the late return on Sunday evening from Bordeau. Really hope this impending snow doesnt go anywhere near the airports this weekend.

Re BA, they allocate seats early, tell you can pay to get a seat of your choice, then point out that you can do it yourself within 24 hours. 4 couples travelled to Dubrovnik earlier this year, all of us were allocated individual seats in separate roles - and then got the pairs together within the 24 hours before flight. Not as direct as Ryanair but still trying to catch us out.

Taking it relatively easy by flying Easy jet to Bordeaux on Saturday morning and back on Monday. Didn't want to have the hassle of a rush after the match. Live near stansted but the Ryanair return on Sunday just too soon and eats into beer time.

Agree regarding BA .... not the best but generally know what you are going to get with them, I fly with them a lot and rarely have cause for complaint. Obviously it does depend if they fly the routes you need. smiling smiley
