Potential SA playing schedule for WLR

June 9/16/23 v Eng. 3 games

Aug 18 to Oct 6 Rugby Championship 6 games

Nov 3/10/17/24 Autumn Internationals 4 games

So a potential 13 test matches.

As said elsewhere, cannot see him in Wasps shirt until December at the earliest. His 8 week break is effectively between the end of the Eng series and the Rugby Championship.

Given Danny's departure, we are really going to be short on the wow factor in Willie's absence.

This is an unfortunate consequence of playing at Wasps, seems like we have resurrected his international career, on form he is hard to leave out of the SA squad

Not a Doctor and not a troll!!

Same thing applies to England internationals who are Wasps players if you substitute the 6 Nations & the maximum number of games they should play for the Rugby Championship.
Does that mean we should not have any players who are selected for their international team? Thank goodness Thomas Young can’t play for Wales - until he leaves us.

If he is rumoured to be signed on for another few years it seems we are not quite getting our money's worth all of a sudden on that deal

On a purely financial angle maybe there is a credit system for him being released or something in his contract that provides some kind of kick back ?

Will Premiership Rugby allow him to play in all four November games? I suspect the England game (3rd November) isn't in the test window.

The fact that it is an England game, means that pPRL will have agreed the release of players. Gatland was using a similar game as precedent that PRL had previously releases players outside the window convienently ignoring the fact that England were playing in that game.

He won't need to be released for that 4th game outside the window. However, as it's England, PRL/RFU may have a deal in place.

Gatland can boil his head, PRL get paid by the RFU for player release, when the WRU make the same deal, they can get their release.

If it is outside the window I still doubt he’d get released regardless of who it is against. The fact the England players will be released is neither here nor there.
