Guardian Article on CVC

Interesting read -
[www.theguardian.com]

In particular this section - maybe Wasps?

"The CVC money, we are told, will not be used to stoke wage inflation. That appears to be fanciful. The players affected will be those on the fringe of a squad, earning around £50,000, who will make way for academy players. One head coach lamented recently that a player of his who was on £300,000 was offered a 20% increase which was trumped by a rival who offered to almost double his salary. The lesson of football in the Premier League era is that no matter how much a club’s turnover increases, fans will always be squeezed. There is never enough money."

I wonder if this is Bristol trumping us for Hughes?

Sounds very plausible that it would be Hughes. Not sure he is worth that if you account for the forced and unforced absence that he will undoubtedly have during the season. He can't be a marquee player and so it leaves little scope for having a decent replacement.

It will be interesting to see what will happen if Briz get relegated too.

The main attraction for Hughes to remain at Wasps is that his workload can be balanced with Nemo and Willis in the picture. Bristol are likely to flog him to death to get their money's worth.

I'm not sure it will be Hughes and Bristol. They're loaded too so only salary cap will be keeping their spending down.

Cheers

Just to educate you backdoc, you know you could do a little research before posting baseless comments?

I admit to having some love for Bristol being from Bristol having played for Bristol but Pat Lam is an outstanding DoR and will manage players with empathy and certainty not “flog them to death”.
