Looks like a new deal for Kieran Brookes

Contract extension, but doesn't say what the length is.

Didn't he sign a two year deal when he joined last year?

I'm guessing he's with us until 2020/21, but who knows?

Delighted to hear that Kieran has extended his contract.

He has the ability and opportunity to get back into the England reckoning.

We are going to have a great front row squad next season.

yes, I like our front row and our entire forward resources for next year. It should get us promotion to the Premiership (just a joke folks!)!

Pleased he’s signed up for more.
Slightly disappointed after a long media tease that it was “only” a contract extension and not a new player/coach.
But definitely pleased he’s signed.

Does this mean he only signed a 1 yr deal???

If Stuart was also on a 1 yr deal and as we know JCW contract was up this year so we could have lots all three TH props which would have been ridiculous management.

If however it was a two year deal and after losing 2 THs this year we want to lock in Brookes for a lot longer than fair play, possibly another three years from now, guess JTA will be on the same and we’ll see how Owlett, Daniels and Alo get on in the mean time

I’m fairly sure I recall reading that when rumours arose about Kieran potentially moving to France it was firmly stated that he was still under contract next season so I guess it must have been a 2 year he signed originally and that we are just locking him into a longer deal.

contracts don't mean much now anyway so irrelevant how long its for. If a player gets offered more money else where, or just a better way of hiding his money, then contracts can be broken.

But surely the club who is aggrieved could get , or at least apply for, an injunction to stop him playing for a competitor until the contract is up? Any employment lawyers in the house?
Obviously not if mutual consent or if damages/compensation has been agreed, or if the player moves to a non competitor eg a SH or French club.
Equally, doesn't the premiership have rules to stop players moving mid contract?

If a player wants to leave mid contract and the club doesn't want him to leave then unless that player has a valid escape clause then he can't play for another club.

A player could buy himself out of a contract (or the new club could cover that on the player's behalf) but again, the current employer wouldn't have to accept that offer.

In rare instances if a player does want to leave mid contract (Daly, Yarde) then generally most clubs and players would probably strike a compromise as the relationship has probably broken down and a club probably doesn't want to put an expensive player on gardening leave for a whole season or have a disgruntled player sulking around a squad for a season.

Which makes me think players who are already signed for a club have the upperhand when it comes to the employer/employee relationship.

A player wanting to leave mid contract could become such a nuisance at a club, or play so poorly, giving no effort or loyalty to the squad or club that the club has no alternative to let them go.

When was the last time a player was sacked (asked to leave mid contract) for poor performance, poor time keeping, gross misconduct, which does happen in the real world.

Who knows.. we might have one of those in our squad currently

Impossible to know, though it is interesting the number of players (from all Premiership clubs) that leave their respective clubs without somewhere else to go.

Sale have got a few haven’t they? Marland Yarde, James O’Connor, Jennings now taking time out too.
Savea came close the other day and Toulon must have got rid of a few other flop signings along the way.
Didn’t George Smith get the sack in Japan, sure Quade Cooper must have somewhere too.
Cipriani was pretty much let go early under Rod Maqueen at the Rebels, although it was billed as him returning for his England chances
Sure that might be more to Dom Barrow now having left two clubs by ‘Mutual agreement’
