England let down by the Wasps contingent (current and former) giving away stupid penalties (esp that cretinous lump Shaw), and the useless Wilkinson clogging things up in the last 20 mins.

Worsley was also totally useless.

The BBC prides itself on giving a balanced view of games that it broadcasts.

Brian Moore's performance tonight was totally unacceptable. I haven't heard anything so one-eyed in my life. He makes assertions based on his ability to see those bits of a game that the cameras show. Half the time there are things going on that he's not seeing. A couple of times tonight he actually had to apologise for getting it totally wrong when the replays were shown.

Just as bad was the idiot from Esher who spent the entire time after the game talking to Dallaglio and Guscott about how great England were and completely ignoring Rafa (his team actually won the Grand Slam). How ignorant can you get?

I guess 'twas ever the English way.

Only some English. I disassociate myself from them.
3 points in the second half tells the whole story.
No imagination, France doing just enough and having a gear in hand if they needed it.
What a dreadful weekend for the civilised world. Italy, Ireland and England all lose - the third world have overtaken us yet again.(Sm105)

Please forgive me if I have got this wrong - but the lady with blond hair sitting in front of JOHNNO - who turned and said something to Johnno about some decision or ther - and I think he said alledgedly to her "s.ut up" - was RAFAS mother-in-law - and I think I am right in saying he is married to OLIVIER MAgner's sister - so that was MRS MAGNER SNR..........so yes BIAN MOORE - I think she might know a thing or two about rugby ...........which would be two more things that you know - on your showing tonight. I had to give up counting how many times he said the ref was wrong and then retreat on the reply and apologise.

SS, Shaw was only on the pitch for 20 minutes, and in my opinion we were never going to win the game once he had gone. What exactly did he do wrong?

Come on Jon, where's your apology??? Foden did everything that Armitage didn't/couldn't. He ran the ball back with guile and passion, not trot and aimlessly boot. He linked well and got the team going forward. Ashton, not the finished article but has some balls. Moore=Mr Punch - Butler just dislikes the English.

I think today,s game plan was to attack a la MR SMITH - as all the other game plans a la WELLS AND FORD hadn't worked - so they were told to go out play rugby - and I have to admit TINDELL was good..........as was ASHTON AND FODEN and Flood and even Care...........

Very poor advert for northern hemisphere rugby. France showed a woeful lack of ambition for a team chasing a big prize and England, although better, just had too many weak links, particularly in the bread and butter work in the forwards.

Brian Moore seems to have lost any ability to control his victor meldrew act and his constant attacks on the ref were pathetic. I know I have a go at the ref a fair bit when watching LI games but I have the decency to be a bit ashamed about it a few minutes later. Now apparently this is the BBC telling us the appropriate way to watch rugby is to question everything the ref does rather than actually bother to watch the game and critically assess the performance of the players.

It was actually in the second post on this thread.

So if you want it more specifically then i was wrong he didn't follow the apparent instructions that Armitage and the rest of the backs had followed in the early games. his Run kick pass was much better in previous teams

So either he ignored the instruction or MJ changed them.

I really rate your backs and Delon hasn't been the same since his injury.

I'm concerned that we at Irish expect Delon to be back to full form for next week, personally at this stage would play Delon at 13, Hewat at 15 and Tom on the wing but thats a debate for another thread.

Good luck today by the way! (don't want Glaws stealing the HC place (Sm151))

I can cope with Mr Moore and actually find him quite amusing, what I can't cope with is Mr Healy and his little diagrames!

I can't count the number of line outs and restarts I missed because I was was was watching little circles, white lines and red arrows of something that happened 10 minutes ago!!!(Sm31)

He said on the Rugby Club that's what he'd been told to do. I suspect Delon wasn't.

Johnno finally wakes up and listens to people, sticks Foden and Ashton in to shut them up and still, apart from that try and a couple of brief moments, England still can't break through.

Foden, Ashton were much better than previous incumbents, if it was orders or not; I'm not sure we'll know the truth. Was appalled at Tindall selection, but he delivered, but when he's doing a good job why take him off? Same goes for Hatley replaced by Thompson.
Flood is a better footballer than Wilko and has been for several years - still some strange and daft decisions by Johnson, but no doubt that loss will keep him his job!

Just a couple of things:

Foden did so well that it will take an injury to see Delon back at fullback, although it would keep Ben at 15 and have Delon at 13.

France knew they didn't have to play much rugby to beat England, and it was proven to be he case. I agree with someone above who said that they still had a couple of gears to go just in case.

Certainly the highlight of the game was the lady sat in front of MJ who reminded me of Mulledwinemarie, and the worst part of the game was listenig to the pitbull, they might as well give a microphone to Bisach if all they wanted was one eyed opinions on the referee's decisions or lack of them as it may be.

Forgot to add: "It's only cheating of you get caught" as quoted by Austin Healy made me laugh. I'd like to know how many complaints the BBC received because of this. From listening to Healy and Moore, you understand that cheating is horrible and should be punished if you are French, but it is ok if you don't get caught as long as you are English. Classic.

Yes, England's verve was a pleasure to watch at times, the Northampton boys made a difference as did Flood. Let down obviously by the fact that France had England's scrum on toast.

You're trailing by 2 points, there's 7 minutes remaining, you have possession of the ball and what do you do? kick it away and then defend against an attacking onslaught from the opposing team. It almost makes me laugh. Why are international rugby players making these stupid decisions? are they just too tired to run the ball? accepting bribes from the french government?

England were doing this same thing in the 2007 world cup final, funnily enough it was not a successful tactic.

good thing about yesterday

...3 teams tried to play entertaining, exciting, attack rugby

bad thing;
only 1 of them won, wales & they were playing a team who were also trying to attack rather than just defend!!!
