Thank God for that. That should stop the rumours.
Danny Cipriani signs for Sale

you say thank god for that but who are we going to have at 10 next year?
An on form Cipriani would be perfect for our back line.

I would sugegst that we take the current Sale fly half - McLeod.

I thought Shingler was a #10. Played at #15 for Wales U20s.

Moved from Scarlets because he was behind both Jones and Priestland.

Whilst I'd have loved to have watched cipriani play for irish - such a talent - I just couldn't bear the accompanying circus

I've mixed feelings. How many exciting 10s are out there. We need at least one - probably 2

Cipriani and Mike Catt - never going to happen.

I was talking this over with my Dad at the weekend and while an undoubted talent, I think it's the best decision for him to join Sale rather than return to London.

For one thing the Meejah should leave him well enough alone up there - maybe that's naive but if he went an a night out to a club with mates in London I reckon the tabloids would be out in force regardless of what he did or when.

He is talented but we've had our fair share of talented mercurial types. If we convince Stephen Jones to join then I could see him being a better mentor for Shingler.

And he gets to live in Cheshire with the Beckhamites. (Yeah, I know Beckhams are now in LA but you get my point, hopefully)

Shame we've missed out on a talented player, but I can't see Catty or Toby getting much out of him.

Should be a right good social life at Sale with him and Andy Powell in the same team!! Stolen bottles of vodka with a golf buggy as the getaway car!

Re: Cipriani

Stnick88. I rather try Shingler at 10 than have that idiot at the club. There are plenty on good 10s out there. I think we have a good chance on signing S Jones with all the other welsh boys in at the moment.

Agree with the suggestion of going after McLeod. he can't be too happy (as long as we manage him properly)

Re: Cipriani

McLeod is average...there is a reason they want Cips...

Some people don't think we'd have gotten much out of him. Well....no.
Why should the coaches at our club be any different to the coaches at other top clubs? Who HAS got their moneysworth out of him, eh?
I suppose if we want London Irish to constantly be in the news AND we all subscribe to the idea that any publicity is good publicity then OK, we've missed out. Me, I think it's a real shame he's gone to Sale. I'd rather it were Harlequins or Leicester.

I'm afraid that is a tad naive Steve. Hard as this might be to believe, we actually have the media up here in Manchester too - as Wayne Rooney, Carlos Teves, Rio Ferdinand, Ryan Giggs and Mario Barotelli can attest to. [:wor kid:] He is just as likely to be photographed falling out of a nightclub up here as he is in London.

Cipriani's problems weren't because he was a famous rugby player, rather that he was a famous bloke who happened to play rugby.

Manchester is different to London in many ways, while we've only just got running water, unlike London, we're likely to still have it in June.

Yous London and Manchester guys can probably help me here. What's Christianity like, 'cos they say we're getting it up here in Yorkshire at the end of May.
Sorry. Sorry, fellers, I'm looking at the wrong thing. It's Channel Five and digital TV we're getting then. There's no plans for Christianity any time yet in the foreseeable future.

high maintenance - others seem to have decided that he was bluntly not worth the effort. Interesting that he did not return to Wasps of course

I personally judge a fly half's performance on more than the number of points that he scores...

Really? I'd have thought Cips would have been perfect and that the (minor) spat between Catty and he, wouldn't be any problem at all. Shake hands, pint or two, and laugh about the press.
