Would be an odd one. Not sure we necessarily need another flanker and would prefer a player on the way up with something to prove if we did pick one up.

Completely agree - specialist openside and not better than any of the three other specialist opensides that we already have.

I think they may be looking to build a more abrasive pack for the championship. Before Arno, our pack had little impact when trying to play phase ball. Our pack looked smaller quite often when we played in the championship last time, we were more skilled though.

You could be right, but if so, I'm not sure Guy Mercer is the answer...anyway, will wait and see and will get behind him if it turns out to be true.

Mercer's not particularly big. Would probably be our smallest senior back row if he signed.

Does have experience going for him and is a leadership figure. Just not sure he'd be what we are after if it was true.

Get out of town! I assumed they were, learn something new everyday

Prem quality player why wouldn't we want him? also are we in a position to refuse such a player?

If he's prem quality, get him in. He's not so old that he will be over the hill after promotion.

We have good players in his position, money should be spent elsewhere. I would also question his premiership quality given the lack of games he's had over the last 3 years

We are not in the Premiership

He's played 127 times for a bath team that have consistently finished above London Irish in the prem for about the last 6/7 seasons?

We need to start facing facts the squad we've had hasn't been good enough, signings like this (if it comes to fruition) will improve it as a whole.

Edit: He also played 16 times for the Ospreys (on loan) this season, another team currently far above where we are

Strong squad player who has substantial experience ar a reasonable age. However, would prefer a big ball carrying number 8. Our squad has for years screamed for one.
