Absolutely stiffed by the ref early on. Try ruled out for a knock on where the ball came off the knee, then Glaws awarded a try that was from a clearly forward pass that according to the TMO wasn't clear and obvious!

That's effectively a 14 point swing in a couple of minutes. Tough enough to win games without appalling refereeing.

That's 5 points Bell has left out there now (1 open, 1 conversion), should be 13-13 but instead we're still 5 points down!

You could see that coming from him a mile off, he's so bloody predictable. Bit of afters after Lewington got dragged out with Heinz preventing the quick take. Then he does the same after a Glouc pen and chucks the ball away. Finally he thought he was wrongly penalised under our sticks from that turnover.

All the time he's cooking more and more. Just no self control and goes and does that. Deserved a good ban for it too and I'd rather he wasn't captain again.

Have we NEVER passed the ball forward and got away with?

Of course we haven't we just wouldn't do it. It isn't in our DNA.

We should get a 20 point start to the season given that everybody in the game is against us.

It was the same two years ago when we were only relegated because every decision went against us.

I just hope history doesn't repeat itself and that we get one break between now and the end of the season.

What a really stupid comment. Did you check to see if Heinz came back on? well he didn't and if he's out injured for 6 weeks it will probably be less than the ban Paice will get? As a club in your position you need all the friends you can get.dissing Heinz (who is as tough as they come) won't get you any sympathy kingsholm way. well done to the balanced posters on here who could actually see what happened and haven't just made it up to suit their own agenda.

I feel the dust has settled for me enough to return and comment. There are positives that can be taken from that game

Driving maul, it was looking like a real weapon
Defence, up until Paice went off, apart from one forward pass it was looking pretty good
Attack in general, we were actually making meters, I don't know if we would have made as many had McLean stayed on, but Fowlie seemed to really make a difference to the last few weeks.
Bell had a dreadful game, with a man down for an entire half we were very very unlikely to win or even get close. If you're going to have a bad day it might as well be in a game we're not going to get anything out of. Hopefully it's now out of his system, he's refocused in training and comes back stronger.

I'm not sure what wrong with wondering how the officials can't spot a pass that goes a clear 5 yards forwards like the one in the Bath game - there are even stripes in the grass that make it easier to see.

Questioning the officiating doesn't necessarily mean you're blaming them for the loss but in the case of the Bath game which was close it can't have helped.

Wavey Davey can't even remember to put his cards into his pocket before a game. How do you expect him to see a ball kicked forward, off the leg and nowhere near the hands. Or indeed, how to see a forward pass.

Fowlie definitely knocked it on after it hit his knee. Could see it clearly from the second angle. Could argue that he only did so in the first place as he was being tackled without the ball, but it's all irrelevant now.

You would know from the conversations with the Irish fans around us, genuinely knowledgeable and good fun. If yer man hadn't done what he did, I think you could have got a bonus point...we stretched the extra man, but if you had the full side and if you'd kept it tight and kept running off the maul you could have ground out possession and hard yards.

Ref was strange for both sides on his interpretation of tackle and maul but did feel that Irish (as happens to most clubs down the bottom) didn't get the 50/50 calls from the ref...oh yes we know that feeling!

Your too good to go down , but not quite strong enough to move up the table.

Good luck for the rest of the season, we are honestly pinching ourselves and can't believe what a new coach has delivered in no time...read into that what you will about your so called 3 amigos winking smiley

A positive yet pragmatic review Florida. I think that barring the captain's unforgivable moment of insanity, no doubt brought on by two of the most ridiculous reffing decisions I have witnessed at this level (no excuse for thugery though), there were positives. Finally we got to see Joe and Jimmy having a crack at breaking the line, we ran a ball out of our own try line and our defense was excellent with only 14 on the field. There is improvement and I still feel that we are close to turning a corner that is proving quite long, not the hairpin we have been hoping for. It comes down to confidence. If you watch the boys heads drop after we have a try disallowed and they then score off a blatant forward pass, it was almost as if the team were thinking.. here we go again... work hard and things still dont go our way. The next prem game has to be a win.. break the hoodoo and get the gorilla off our backs - we are not even half way yet through the season and now is not the time ofr the team to give up, far less us as supporters. Try to keep the faith and hope that the coaches get their acto together and let the team flow more and try things.

I cannot believe the editor and so called moderators have allowed this vile comment to be made.
This human skid mark is making a comment and wishing injury upon one of his OWN players. What a piece of work he/she is! When things get difficult for a team rats this this thing turn on their own to salvage some semblance of preservation.
He/she thinks then by adding, not wanting to really wish injury on a player is a token and completely mitigates his/her statement. I'm sure he/she thought he/she was hilarious.
Absolute shame on you and greater shame on the invertebrates who allow this appallingly treacherous comment to be made!

Since you're clearly not paying attention I kinda am the moderator around here. There used to be others but they got busy and had to drop out. Hence my question. Interestingly Florida PM'd me fairly quickly to highlight the comment and, while I wasn't particularly impressed with it, it wasn't exactly actionable. If anyone disagrees they're more than welcome to debate it with me (here or on PM/email) but I think I get the balance between letting people have their say and keeping the peace somewhere near right, again feel free to disagree.

The thing is, this site is mostly self-policing. If someone says something out of line it's far better for a majority of users to correct them than it is for me to wade-in with my Moderator hat on and digital eraser at-the-ready. If we go down the route of the latter I can guarantee I'll delete stuff you care about at some point (simply because I might miss nuance while making sure no-one gets upset).
