Never understood why Tonks was such a hit with the fans or coaches. His kicking is appalling. 35m out in the middle of the pitch (according to LI twitter) and he shanks it.
Paice gets himself binned for reckless play, when we have other options at two, play them. He gains no ground with ball in hand and can end up costing in the long run. This will be a scrappy game and simple missed kicks could be the difference.

He's been a pretty good player for us overall. He didn't shank it but it was conservative that kick.

Golden rule of pro rugby and we should know better than anyone over the past few years. You have to have a good goal kicker on to take the opportunities when they come.

Was thinking of a different kick due to timing of post.

Why not swap him and Marshall?

According to the radio commentator, Paice didn't do anything wrong for the YC.

But, when has that ever stopped people complaining?

We have three fly halves in the squad, all of whom are poor kickers, yet we seem delighted when they sign contract extensions. Donít repeat the process and expect things to change

A commentator's opinion doesn't count unfortunately.

We are playing well until the 5 yard line again.

To those saying it's unfair on Paice... hes his own worst enemy he's so reckless and has such a pathetic history with yellow cards that he will lose the 50 50 calls for cards

And in that he is a massive liability. Get rid.

Don't we have something like 5 hookers in the squad, and yet we go for a card magnet?

Paice took out our 8 as he was chasing his chip kick. Could have been pen only, but it was borderline, and if you give the ref a chance to blow his whistle, it's your own fault.

Get a win today with wuss losing and suddenly they would have gotten very nervous with momentum swinging our way. Now we have a team who know they screwed the pooch (well the kickers mainly) and are all but officially relegated. What a statement it would have been going to wasps and winning. We score as twice hand the initiative straight back.

Can't kick - yes, not the best goal kicking performance but as far as I am aware, Nick doesn't take the kicks, nor even coach the kicking.

Can't defend - we conceded two tries, one from a maul and the other from a chargedown.

Turnover ball on the try line - not really sure which moment you are referring to.

That was a good performance against the best team in the league on current form and we nearly came away with a win. In fact we would have done but for missed kicks.

Canít fault the effort.

Itís simply that in our critical positions of 10 and 15 we again lack true AP class, and we also have a Ďheadless chickení tendency that seems a perennial weakness for the last 5-6 seasons.

Thank you for providing an objective viewpoint. Totally agree. We can be pleased with the effort put in against a good Wasps side. Unfortunately, there is likely to be the usual overreaction on this site.

I donít think itís an overreaction given hats at stake. If we were safe we could sit back and enjoy the positives. As it is, positives within a loss mean absolutely F all. Weíve had plenty of them, itís points we wanted, not positives and pats on the back.

Bell is a kicker, he brings nothing else. Thatís not an angry post, but thatís all he brings. When his confidence dropped, itís very hard to pick him back up because with so little to his game, itís hard to then pick out the positives. Heís fairly solid but heís not a prem starter, even for us. He reminds me of Chris Paterson, needed for his kicking so played him away from the action. He made up for our lack of reliable kicker, but then the coaches realised at this level you canít hand a shirt to someone who does little else. When he did play we kicked for the corner instead of using him, now heís dropped weíre going for posts with a terrible kicker. Awful tactics, common sense stuff.

Maybe if the team had put that much effort in before we weíre basically relegated we wouldnít be in the position we are. To little to late , replace the coaches ASAP and let whoever takes over shape the squad they want.

Chris Paterson was an awesome kicker but he was also a pretty good try scorer too ( 22 for Scotland ). Closer to Marshall as a player but with incredible goal kicking.

You are welcome SirBurger! Fact is all Waspies can relate to your situation, it was not that long ago that we came within a Tom Varndell tackle of not only relegation, but most likely oblivion from the top levels of professional rugby! We have proved that teams and clubs can come back from the brink, and come back stronger! It may seem remote now (as it did for us when we shipped over 70 points to Saints in our near relegation season) but Irish can build from this!
