Declan Kidney, who led Ireland to their Six Nations Grand Slam in 2009, is to make a shock return to top-flight coaching as part of major overhaul at Premiership strugglers London Irish. Kidney will be joined by former Ulster director of rugby Les Kiss in a new-look coaching team, which is expected to be unveiled next week as the club attempt to resurrect their fortunes with a significant statement of intent.

Kidney and Kiss? Seems a bit much, especially if they keep Nic which I’d hope they would. I would have opted for Kiss to work with Kennedy. I always felt kidney was quite negative in his approach, he only won one six nations which was poor considering the players at his disposal (may be wrong about how many times he won it). It’s hard to see where. It would feature in that line up, would still want him kept though.

Would be hard to be churlish about someone with his record heading to the Championship really. All the same, he'd been out of the pro game since 2013, so seems a bit of a risk given we would probably be paying him a decent wedge to up sticks.

Guess we'll likely see what the craic is next week.

No real issue with Kidney and Kiss coming in. Guess Kidney will oversee things and Kiss will do the first team coaching. I realise Kidney has been out of the pro game for a while but he has won two heineken cups, one celtic league and a grand slam with Ireland. I think we have to be happy with that as a replacement for what we have, considering that the main criticism has been a lack of experience.

Neither would be long term I imagine so I’d hope that they’d keep Nic, but I guess it would depend on how Nic feels about sharing the stage after being in charge.

This can't be right, there aren't any head coaches available and the ones that are available we can't afford

Be interesting to see how / if this unfolds

At the very least, if true, it's a sign that the backers haven't given up on the idea of being a top tier team. I could have forgiven them if they did. Can't be much fun putting all that money in for the results and crowd gotten.

Any coaches from the current setup that are kept should be shuffled down until they prove themselves properly.

You can always, fill the board with caustic quips if it goes south.
Something to look forward to.

Yes the rumour is that the money that got Kidney/Kiss in is new investment from outside the usual coffers, but you knew that I expect. So you should feel smug about listing all unemployed coaching staff at the time, I think Malander was your initial guess and then other lists followed.
who would have thought? what a rugby guru you are, I'm sorry I ever doubted you.
