USA March 2020??
Grantham Exile (IP Logged)

As it appears that we now have two investors, (apparently from USA) who are keen to expand the game into the states, does it seem likely that we will again play a premiership game in there and if so where would be your city of choice?
Mine would be Boston as weve already done NYC

Whilst on, a massive thanks to the board for sanctioning ALL our signings,, an exciting season awaits

I would think as Gallagher are title sponsors of the Prem their home town of Chicago would be a likely option if there is a US game.

I know we've done it already but NYC.

It was genuinely, bar my wedding day, the best time of my life. I had so much fun and if there was another US adventure i'd be first to sign up.

Would like to go to Boston, as I've never been there before and there is arguably a bigger Irish community there

Boston for me too, particularly if it was when "The Fall" was in full Technicolor.

I'd still like top know who these mysterious investors are. Are they likely to be existing owners of US franchised sports teams or maybe "just" successful business owners?

And for that matter is anyone in the loop enough to know that they definitely exist?

Surely it would have to be Amarillo, we know who waits there (Sm14)

Kentucky - I have an old home there.

Or Nutbush, at the city limits.

California? We could have an infinitely extended stay in the hotel there.

Detroit - we could hitch-hike from Saginaw, or we could board a Greyhound in Pittsburgh and eat Mrs. Wagner's pies.

etc etc...

Don't go to Baton Rouge - you'll be busted flat while you wait for the train

OT - I keep dreaming about California girls...

We could play in Clarksville, but we'd have to make sure to catch the last train.

If we won, we might get the Freedom of Philadelphia!

We could have a pleasant walk in Memphis before the game.

I might need to ask directions to San Jose

We'd need to find something to do, if the team 'died' in Denver

Some people on here know I enjoy railway journeys, so Chattanooga could be a good destination. Glad theres a bit of a wait if I have time to get my shoes cleaned before heading to platform 29.

Perhaps we could have a fixture on the banks of the Mississippi against The Saints:

This time I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm walkin' to New Orleans
I'm gonna need two pair of shoes
When I get through walkin' these blues
(Many thanks, Fats)

We've been to Pheonix Arizona all the way to Tacoma, Philadelphia, Atlanta, LA.

Forgive me if this is not quite right - I'm relying on a very old memory!

Or perhaps more topically...

I'm going to Jackson!

or

I'm sittin' in a bar, drinking a jar with Jackson
and on the street the summer sun it shine

(Rolling Stones, Country Honk - not Honky Tonk Women, but the same tune done with acoustic guitar and fiddle).

Well worth listening to here.

Just returned from 5 day break in Chicago. Lovely city in all respects, not least great food & drink. Doubt Soldier Field would be the venue due to it's huge capacity. Within walking distance of downtown & looks like a giant space ship from the outside.
