During the early years of the premiership rugby supporters
network, the amateur club tradition of chatting, debating
and sharing banter with oppositing supporters, before and
after games at the club bar, rapidly established itself in
online gatherings - extending the game's camaraderie and
many online/at game friendships were forged.
More recently a new breed of tribal, nose-thumbing, my-club
-right -or-wrong "extremist" fans seem to routinely descend
on rival sites, destroying chat, driving apart and away
passionate knowledgable clubmen/women. Many fewer fans
seem to post on "away" sites - fearful of being instantly
On reflection - it's the ease of reading the discussions,
thoughts and concerns of opposition supporter sites that
makes, AP games, different from the HEC supporter void.
Dare I suggest each Friday and Monday, the "Match Review"
and "Match Review" message - is an open invitation to both
clubs supporters to discuss the game and banter - please
see definition of banter
[basically - "to tease" certainly not
- to abuse, belittle or insult]
I regularly enjoyed following these "open" messages and
miss them ..... what about a revival !
best wishes for the season.
