I would like to thank all those supporters that witnessed and totally ignored the assault on an elderly gentlemen in Rosebine car park. No one is asking you to be a hero but to totally ignore the situation sickens me.

When did this happen? I heard from my friend who was later getting to the ground than I was that there was some trouble in the Rosebine when he was arriving, but he didn't know much more than that as the car park stewards were there by then.

Seriously, this sort of thing can't be allowed to get a foothold into rugby. Friends are always amazed at how friendly and welcoming rugby is when they come along. The good-natured banter between fans is something that we should be proud of, along with the family friendly atmosphere. I hope that the culprits are found quickly and the victim recovers soon.

quinnywinny, dont get it, if you yourself witnessed supporters that totally ignored the assault, why did you yourself do nothing about it?

I am the 'elderley' gentleman (sad to be referred to in those terms at the age of 58!) who was attacked in the rosebine car park yesterday before the game. To set the record straight it was not a rugby attack, more of a 'road rage'incident that was carried too far. The two youths, twenty something, had taken exception to something that had happened on the A316 as I was pulling into the rosebine car park. Having thrown a bottle of water out of the car, which failed to hit me, they decided to persue me, having parked their car, on foot across the rosebine. After shouting a lot of expletives at me they decided to rip the wing mirrors off my car then set about me, knocking me to the ground and kicking me. My wife , who was frantic by this time, shouted for assistance and help to stop the attack. what was extremely disappointing was that four Worcester supporters (2 males, two females and a dog, driving a green/yellow peugeot) no more than 5 metres away turned their back and told my wife to f*** off. The stewards arrived on mass and the two youths ran away. They lived close by, so if any readers live in Gladstone Avenue look out for two youths in the corner house who drive a dark mercedes (although I'm told by the police that their father said they were in manchester!)
First of all I would like to thank the stewards and security personnel who were fantastic, helpful and supportive and the Sun reporter who helped me to my feet. Many thanks to quinnywinny and her husband who were brilliant and the quins staff who let us use their office to take statements. Oh and special mention to the police officers who let me and my wife watch the second half of he game before taking statements.
A very sad occourance, wrong place wrong time but hopefully these people can be brought to justice (when they return from manchester!)

Completely understand. Had the same thing happen to me with a cyclist a few months ago. At the next lights he tried to punch me and when I pushed him off took it out on the car.

Similarly, no one stopped to help.

I thought about posting a link on the Worcester Board to appeal for the witnesses to come forward, but am not sure how this may be taken: perhaps someone with a more legally trained mind would like to comment...

Hope they are banged up, and some.

Hope you are OK now, Mr and Mrs BQ...

Now that brought a smile to my face. I haven't lost my sense of humour even after the events of yesterday. Thanks for the lighter note :-)

There was another case of what I can only describe as road rage just outside of the ground as I left after the match. Some yob had completely lost it and was "inviting" somebody (looked like a chauffer to me) to step out of his vehicle. Neeedless to say, the language was foul. The driver was blocking the road and stopping vehicles entering but the reaction that it provoked was well out of order. It`s certainly a changing world ........

You can't rely on those peugeot-driving dogs!

Because the investigation is ongoing I suppose you have to be careful, as what you wouldn't want is if someone did know who was involved and then a bit of their own justice is issued it will cause complications. So theres always a risk that by getting the word out in some form it may be jeperdised.

If the police have the license plate of the vehicle involved and it wasn't stolen or in trade it will lead back to somewhere/someone to base the enquiries off as well as CCTV enquiries or forensics of the wing mirrors if it was possible. Without knowing what the chap and his wife had seen/knew about the incident extra witnesses may not be able to add much anyway in terms of descriptions ect as it may already have been noted.

BB I saw that too. Wasn't sure of the initial circumstances which caused the anger but the language and scale of the reaction was well beyond acceptable.

Kevin; All he did was after signalling pull in to Rosebine car park and because they were too close behind him they started honking at him and then threw a bottle of water at his car.

Not happy with this they then parked up at Rosebine Avenue, where they live walked through the car park and assaulted him and vandalised the car, and ran and hid inside their house.

That is unpleasant to say the least! to get that riled over something that was a nothing situation seems like the reaction of unhinged or drugged up minds . hope to goodness the police can get them for something.

This is appalling. Thanks for telling the story - I couldn't make the game as I was at a church event. Pacifism is quite key (we don't really proselytise but if interested it's probably obvious.)I've no desire to sound like a keyboard warrior but with extensive previous involvement in boxing and rugby I'd like to think I'd have defended someone decades older and outnumbered - as peacefully as possible.

Edit - missed out the key point - I used the incident (no information beyond "a sports event") for a discussion of if force is ever acceptable.

We had a similar experience last season leaving the main car park.In manoevering through the crush, we were accosted by a 'Quins fan who proceeded to harangue me for daring to drive through a car park. He then decided (I had no intention of getting out of the car, as he demanded and of course escalate the incident),to swear and shout at the top of his voice and punch the wheelymobile. He came off worse, badly damaged his hand and slunk off.

In conclusion I have the following points to make:

1.It is primarily a car park, but respect and consideration should be shown to pedestrians leaving the ground.

2. There is no excuse for violence, no matter how bad a day you are having.

3. 'Quins played poorly that day, so nobody was in good humour!

4.Best wishes to Mr.& Mrs. BQ(Sm134)
