Not sure why people think robson and gray were poor. Think that's a bit harsh. What they were was fairly anonymous, much like most of the team. It was certainly a drop in standard from their usual club form, and arguably against that opposition they should have been able to replicate club form, but I don't think either of them stuck out as being poor. I can think of two obvious taxckles geroge missed. One was one the ball broke lose and their player beat allen, hodgson and george to the line. allen didn't have much of a chance, charlie waved him through as per (despite his defence apparently being so much better now he's at sarries) and george was simplest not quick enough. I know he made a miraculous tackle on short at wembley, but generally 2nd rows can be forgiven for being slower than wings. His other major missed tackle was not so excusable, and out of character.
We're used to seeing him making huge defensive hits an carrying all over the place, so for him not to do that was disappointing, but I think saying he was poor is over the top. Certainly not pressing for first team yet though, although with the exception of last saturday when he was excellent, he put in the same sort of performance we usually see from botha.
JTH does what he always does. Very solid in defence, strong at breakdown, carried well, good half break for lowe's try, albeit against a missing defence. one horrible looping pass to ruin a probably try. nothing that spectacular, just solid effort
danny was fantastic. how he's not in saturday's 22 is beyond me. complete joke.
george looked very good until he went off.
not sure why allen is getting so much praise. barnes was getting himself all hot and bothered about the pass for kitchener's try. quick hands yes, but hardly champagne moment of the year. Whilst I would have picked him for saturday's match, I didn't think he did much for 60 mins, then made one good interception for wade's try (pretty much had to go for it or concede certain try, but fair play for making it stick), another good break but then refused to pass, and failed to collect danny's grubber for try. not a kind bounce, but could have done better
waldrom excellent, and I don't normally rate him that much
wade great going forward, woeful in defence.
hodgson disappointing when he could have been expected to run the show. fearns disappointing too. I wonder if george is getting blamed for some of his missed tackles due to similar hairdos
