I'm chuffed to bits with that result, shame Wallace wasn't penalised in the first half for taking out Edmonds. BTW what is Brown's problem, every time the whistle went he seemed to be having a go at someone, throwing the ball away or petulantly at an opposition player. Great talent but seems a bit of a knob.
You are the best team in England by some distance, to get a losing BP and to almost beat you is a fantastic result for us.

Quote:What did Cowan do wrong? Genuine question because he didn't seem to do much wrong apart from being in the receiving end of one of Brown's tantrums.Jammy GitQuote:Severus

Think the commentator's pronunciation of his name has confused you, it's actually spelled "Cowan"

Shoving players and generally being niggly and annoying all night! It's what he does, he's very good at it
Doesn't bother me, would only annoy me if he crossed the line and wasn't punished, or if one of our players fell for it.

There was the stampy bit in the North West corner when we were five yards out. That was the least pleasant one.
Quote:Fair enough. Didn't see that one.raedarius
No, in a ruck. James Johnston stayed down in the aftermath.
(Not necessarily cause and effect.)

Sort of. Cowan's made it into an art form. Ask Bakkies Botha
Quote:Wow talk about a biased view. Cowan didn't trip Brown, he rolled his hips and judo threw him as Brown was looking for afters after the whistle had gone. A nothing incident that occurs regularly in games with players not normally making an issue about it.Jammy Git
Watched the replay this morning.
Right, so... Cowan and Brown.
Firstly Brown got involved with Twelvetrees after taking the ball away after the whistle (which he shouldn't have done, and got penalised for). Twelvetrees piled into him, which he also had done earlier in the game with Easter (who was also penalised). Fine, no problem with that.
Next big scuffle involving Brown came when Quins were penalised for obstruction which led to Brown breaking through a gap. The whistle went, and then Jimmy Cowan stuck out a leg and tripped Brown. Obviously he reacted - threw the ball at Cowan - but I'm not surprised. Can anyone remind me of the sanction for a deliberate trip...?
Finally, there was the one where he got tackled in the air. Barnes (fatty, not ref) tried to claim that the winger did everything he could to avoid it, but it's nonsense - he was never looking at the ball, and he just hit him in the air. Most players get upset by that, and Brown had a few words (but no pushing and shoving).
Yeah, that Brown. What a knob, eh? Tripped, tackled in the air, and guilty of throwing the ball away like half the players on the pitch.
Quote:No way was that a trip, ridiculous to suggest otherwise. Brown is going to have to grow a thicker skins and curb his anger if he wants to be a success at international level. Great player though.Jammy Git
Amusing. I did a few years of judo.
A judo throw using his leg and no arms. Or, as we normally call it, a trip. After the whistle. And Brown wasn't looking for afters, he was running with the ball.
And the yellow was not harsh - you'd conceded a mountain of penalties by that point.
