Puzzled

Just back from the game and, as usual, have spent a few minutes looking at the comments on ours and the opposition's boards. Must admit I am puzzled. To me it seemed like we were on top of Glos throughout the game and they never looked remotely like scoring. Had our penalty count been less extreme (and my eyes aren't good enough to see why we were penalised in every instance) and had we been a bit more clinical in our finishing I felt that we would have beaten Glos by c 30-40 points. They were poor in most aspects and their vaunted back play never materialised. Whilst pleased with the win I feel cheated of a bonus point and am wondering why it is that we were not awarded a penalty try as we dismembered the Glos scrum three times in succession five yards out. Reading the comments on the Shedweb forum would make you believe that GLos were unlucky not to have won. Really?

I agree, but would never have been 30-40

From where I was sitting, the scrum was about three metres behind the 5m line, so could never have been a penalty try even if they had given up 20 penalties. I may be wrong....

Completely agree. Reckon we outplayed them almost everywhere bar the scrum where it was even.

I think you will find that most on Shedweb take the view that quins were the better side on the day and deserved to win. After the terrible end to season and turmoil last year, most glaws fans are just pleased to at least be competitive this year.
Good luck for rest of season

I think 20 to 30 points is a realistic margin had Quins played remotely well. Gloucester just didn't do anything.

The scrum and line out were both shaky for us and Glaws, pretty even in the set piece with neither side taking it. Thought Glaws had the better in the open with regards to the packs (hence the penalities), however our back line had the upper hand.

need to sort out these penalties though don't we.

we just keep giving teams a way back in, Saracens, Connacht, London Irish, Glos!

Agree, giving 6 kickable pens to Burns and he kicks them.
Especially a problem with whistle happy mr Barnes ( i think he blew for about 30+ pens overall? Thought that Quins played all the rugby and should have won by 15-20.

It's Kingston style that causes us to give these penalties away, he should be the one that is making sure our forwards are better disciplined

We just can't afford to leak the number of penalties we do every game. COS has to try and minimise this situation somehow.
