London Floodlit 7s

Tonight if anyone's interested - at Rosslyn Park. We play Esher at 1720, Bristol at 2000 and then hopefully into the finals.

Planning on heading down. Might just be my imagination but we always seem to get one of the earliest games so I always end up missing the first one. Usually a fun night

Should be a good evening but unfortunately can't make it. A strong looking squad.

Into final. 12-10 v rambling jesters avenging last year's final loss. They are a really decent 7s team with an awesome shirt and an insanely quick guy

Thanks for the updates, T-Bone. Which insanely quick guy are you referring to? smiling smiley

I remember watching the Melrose 7's and thinking how young they were and how good too. Lamb is quick for a big guy, but Miklcius is just a beast!

Sorry, I meant jesters guy. But agree, Jonas is a beast. Short, blonde haired Quins player v quick too. Don't recognise him.

Vs wuss in final

I see. Are you thinking of Charlie Walker? He is very quick.

Nope, academy guy. Walker hasn't been that great actually, albeit still in final. Max Coyle I think if squad nos are correct. What position is he? U18 winner according to squad announcement

Website says Coyle is a wing/fullback. Also mentions that he was an U-18s winner.

Interesting to hear about Walker. His pace usually shines in 7's.

Max Coyle plays centre for his school but plays on wing for England U18. Has played on "wing" for 7s, I am pretty sure.

Losing 19-7 at half time. They are clear better. Make that 26-7. No way back. Can't do restarts so never have the ball. Never mind. Good event and evening as always

T-Bone 04 May, 2017 22:34
Rout in final sadly. Currently 43-7.

Final score 43-14. Good effort.

Worcester were far and away the best team in the tournament. Were they playing a higher proportion of senior players? I didn't recognise any of them. Must say I was surporised - and pleased for them - have never really thought of Wuss as a 7s stronghold.

Warriors Sevens squad:
Jonny Arr
Connor Braid
Will Butler
Tom Dodd
Tiff Eden
Alex Forrester (Warriors U18s)
Ben Fowles
Alex Grove (Birmingham Moseley)
Afeafe Haisila Lokotui
Ben Howard
Charlie Jeavons-Fellows (Warriors U18s)

Quite an experienced side.

Strong Worcester side but they weren't very convincing early on, losing to Loughborough students in their first game. Quins weren't particularly convincing all the way through and I was very disappointed with Charlie Walker as captain. They were very lucky to get to the final but having done that I was quite surprised that they capitulated to the extent they did.
