I was disappointed to read the negative way he phrased this: "... which I believe will ultimately allow us to challenge for honours.” So, no expectation of anything this season and next then ...? "Ultimately" sounds like a long way away.
It seems to me that he's stacking up excuses (injuries, only just started in the role, not 'my squad' — really? still? — needed to change the culture, etc. ...).
He's been in charge 18 months — how long does it take to build a positive environment and culture?

Yes, I reckon so.

In todays statement JK said:
"I’m building a positive environment and culture at Harlequins, on and off the field, which I believe will ultimately allow us to challenge for honours.”
When I read this my immediate thought was Why? Why does he need to build anything? I would have thought that a club with such a long history would have a well established culture with all the requisite policies, practices and procedures needed to provide the framework for players to perform. Furthermore with so many of the senior players having come through the Quins Academy the culture would already be established.
If he perceives the need to 'build a positive environment' (whatever that actually means) the obvious deduction is that the team suffers from a negative environment. That's a pretty damning admission from someone who has been a senior coach at the club for so long. Clearly it has happened/been happening on his watch.
JK is not the most erudite of DoRs but in the context of the situation I would have thought he would have chosen his words with a little more care. I could understand "improving the environment, building morale or changing the culture" all of which are perfectly valid.

I blame JK for the decision to abandon the Gold Standard, The Great Depression and my failure to win more than £2.70 on the Euro Lottery.

But not the decision to hold a referendum on Brexit?

Can't be long before we're finding ways to blame JK for it being cold in winter and the Brexit vote

Eddie Jones took over a team far more damaged than the one JK inherited and created a positive environment in less than a month.

... Jones' job is nothing like JK's job. It sounds quite like McCall's job though...
