Team vs worcester

HARLEQUINS HAVE TODAY (FRIDAY 10TH NOVEMBER) NAMED THEIR MATCHDAY 23 TO FACE WORCESTER WARRIORS IN ROUND 2 OF THE ANGLO-WELSH CUP AT HOME ON SUNDAY 12TH NOVEMBER (KICK-OFF 15:00).

There are five changes to the starting 15 that beat Saracens in Round One of the competition. Jamie Roberts comes in to partner Harry Sloan in the midfield while Calum Waters makes his first start for the Club.

Mark Lambert is named at loosehead prop as captain James Chisholm and Mat Luamanu form the back row alongside Ben Glynn. Among the replacements Niall Saunders will look to make his full Harlequins debut.

Ahead of the match, Director of Rugby, John Kingston said: “The bonus point victory at Saracens last week showed fantastic resolve and has got us off to a great start in this competition.

"The game on Sunday presents an opportunity to back up that win but while there will be several personnel changes for both teams, our Premiership match against Warriors two weeks ago, showed what a threat they can pose.”

I hope both Chis Bros are actually fit & not withdrawn prior to the game. Having Smith on the bench I would say means that he's fit, as there's no real other option at FH in that 23. Apart from that, I'd say it's a good team & we should be targeting at least 4 points out of this game.

How bad was the Swiel injury last weekend?

Re: Team vs worcester
Fearless Fred 10 November, 2017 11:54
It looked like a shoulder injury from the way his shirt was used as a sling when he came off.

Re: Team vs worcester
Cookie 10 November, 2017 11:59
Not sure why we're starting Visser when Chis is on the bench. Ditto Glynn ahead of White or Lamb when he could be protecting Merrick or Matthews, one of whom will start in Exeter.

Did Lang and Mulchrone get injured as well?? And where's Lewis?

Re: Team vs worcester
quin_jon 10 November, 2017 12:02
Lang not injured, listed starting at 10. Mulchrone picked up an ankle injury last week. Not sure about Lewis.

Cookie 10 November, 2017 12:05
D'oh! Misread Lang starting somehow!

Scaramouche 10 November, 2017 12:06
Merrick and Mathews need the game time I reckon and Visser hasn't played that much.

Mulchrone went off with his ankle heavily strapped.

It's s very strong team and given our group has turned into the group of death with all the teams that played winning last week us and Exeter with bonus points we need a bonus win on Sunday.

I think As Visser played very well at 15 last week they want to have another look at him in that position to see if he us a viable alternative to Brown when he is away.

Having seen the Warriors team I hope and expect a win but you never know looking forward to Sunday in any case COYQ

He or she gets them right every time and either works or is the partner of a member of quins medial team or works where they get treated - only explanation

Fair play. Looks like they're out until the new year, then.

UNless he's injured, that's a bit rough on Cheeseman, I thought he played well when he came on last week. I'd like to have seen Sloan at 12 and Cheeseman at 13. Not sure that Jamie roberts will be too chuffed to be playing in the early rounds of this competition.

Great to see a full complement of Chisholms, & that back row looks a lot heftier and more experienced than last weeks one.

I'm also quite excited to see the impact of Boyce and Ibuanokpe when they come on. I thought Boyce was great around the park last week, although his scrummaging looked a bit suspect & I think everyone noticed Big Josh!

Feeling optimistic about this one!

Who's actually available who's not in that squad?

It's a great team for an AW game. I'm slightly concerned it may be a very similar team going to Sandy Park next weekend!

Collier & Walker?

He's obviously rested Lewis on the grounds that he will be the only fit, available, senior scrum half when they come to play the chiefs.

Marler, Horwill, Marchant (maybe), Walker (maybe), Bothma (maybe).

Won't Marler link up with England if he's available?

I also suspect Bothma is unlikely to be ready to play many minutes, so based on that list we best hope we don't get too many injuries on Sunday!

I think JK missed a trick this week after Boyce, White, Lamb and Cheeseman helped bring the bacon home last week, to be 'demoted' to the bench or not even in the match day squad must leave a sour taste with the lads. They would have all been rabid to get stuck into Worcester this week and with the 'senior' players on the bench to bring a late game impact I would have thought our chances of a bonus point win would have been greater. AIMHO

In saying all that, for the money Jamie Roberts gets paid I can't see JK not using him, just to get his monies worth

Tend to agree. If we lose any of Merrick/Matthews, Visser, Roberts/Alofa or Luamanu it will be our own doing. The cover is there.

Sufficiently injured that we brought Ben Glynn in as cover.

They announced injury cover for him back in July.

He had another operation on the foot that kept him out last year.

I don't care about the AWC sufficiently to jeapordise our AP efforts, especially as we have 2 tough AP away games coming up.

AWC is an integral part of a Dor's manangementof his Senior Squad.

Mulchrone went off with his ankle heavily strapped.

He was on crutches when he walked past us to get onto the coach. Worried on Merrick as he said he hurts his ribs in the Sarries game.
