Ex-Quin Marfo named in the Scotland squad for AI's! Well done and good luck to the lad!

Wow, firstly I didn't know he was Scottish, and also didn't think he was really premiership class, let alone international. Fair play to him, and good luck on selection

Apparently his Mum is from Ayr.

Ruaridh Jackson in as well, after having played at 15 for Glasgow when Hogg has been out.

That's another graduate from Battersea Ironsides playing international rugby then - that's great credit to the junior section at the club. Maybe now he's a Scot the club should be looking for appropriate sponsorship........Battersea Irnbru-sides?

That's got to be a contender for worst pun of the season. I salute you! Scaramouche would be proud of that one...

Not being a fan at all of our stupid pun threads that is definitely my favourite worst pun!

One of the nicest players ever met
Always had plenty of time for the supporters and used to say it how it is
Good luck to him

Good luck to him.

I spoke to him up at Newcastle after his last game for us and he felt he was never given a fair chance and there was certainly no love lost between him and Mark Lambert who he described as 'thinks he runs the club'

Totally agree Si.

I had a chat with him at Shannon Airport after a game at Connacht when he was there as cover and he's a smashing guy.

Hmmm, most of the times I saw him play I was pretty underwhelmed, and it's not like he left us and immediately made a huge impact elsewhere. Also, while the club may be guilty of many things, they can't really be accused of failing to give academy players a decent crack. If he was better than Lambert, I'm pretty confident he'd have leapfrogged him

I thought he was a really nice bloke. As was said above, always gave us fans his time and was a genuinely friendly guy.

Best of luck Darryl, you've obviously worked hard to get this chance.

I agree with you T-Bone, just sharing with the group my conversation with him.

I felt at the time that he was a bit bitter about it all and the fall from grace was a hard pill to swallow

Bit dubious about that last part. Lambert doesn't seem the type

This is obviously not true, it is patently clear that no one is running the club.

Apparently Steve Brown the new RFU CEO is upset that Scotland have picked so many 'English' players.

I would therefore assume he will be instructing Eddie Jones to only pick players who played their Mini and Junior rugby in England.

After all Squeaky did such good work ensuring that there is a pathway in place for aspiring players that England would never need to parachute in players.

Well, he's now been named as starting for Scotland against Samoa. Fair play to the lad. He's taken his chances & got recognised for it.

Really please for him as I saw him in the Championship not so long ago against Richmond. Also gives hope to all those lads who get let go by their academy clubs

As a general point, I think there's a meaningful difference between, on the one hand, someone who comes over here to play club rugby and eventually ends up qualifying for the national side and, on the other, a national side making an active policy of going round poaching players from elsewhere for that sole purpose.

You clearly never watched the prem with Rory Clegg, Chris Malone, Steven Donald or Shane Geraghty!

Darryl in the Scotland team on Saturday. Well done young man. Its quiet an achievement considering he was effectively out of a job just 10 months ago when Welsh folded. Always good to see ex-Quins do well. And he is another international who started at Battersea Ironsides.
