Care on Quins/Marler on the podcast

Very interesting from DC on the BBC podcast this week - in that he's very diplomatic and they tease him for it, but he says a lot in a few words...

Chris Jones: So a few ripples from what Joe Marler said about Harlequins?

DC: I'm not sure...Joe's said what he's said....

Ugo: Yes you are...

DC: There are obviously some frustrations there, we're not where we want to be and we haven't been for a few years now. And you're not sure what sort of reactions that might provoke from the club. As players we're obviously just fully focused on our England duties and when we get back to Quins we'll worry about that then.

They both then tease him about giving no real answer...and he jokes back.

DC: Yeah, I'm just reeling them off the media tip sheet I've got in front of me.

How about new contracts for the coaches and then sit and cross their fingers!!!

Just finished listening to Flats & Shanks.

For what it's worth, Flats thinks 'something needs to change at Quins'.

He said that he didn't think JK was in real trouble as he hadn't heard players bad mouthing him.

Now he's changed his mind...

I think to be fair to Flats a lot has changed in the last couple of months.

Suddenly there's talk of player discontent (some of it from the players), we've seen practically a whole stadium walkout, we've lost three on the trot in the league and gone out of two competitions.

It does start to feel like the next two home games are crucial, if not for JK, then certainly for some within the coaching staff.

Flats was cited as being a more reliable source than ugo three weeks ago. He can be a great pundit but it strikes me at times that he tries too hard to be popular. Perhaps he has sensed the winds have changed, so his tune has too

It was only about 3 weeks ago that he thought there was no ground swell against JK.

You're right about next two games, but I feel that saying "practically a whole stadium walkout" is stretching the truth quite a bit - no need for that degree of exaggeration!

Yes you're right. It did still contain some Wasps fans.

Come on mate it was a walkout following a shambolic performance.

Argue semantics if you want but everyone knows it was significant.

Has Flats said anything about Mapletoft?

No-one remembers Tofty is even head coach, so I doubt it.

Have to say I was scratching my head at what JK was saying before and after the match, and I still haven't forgiven him for the two deadly sins of signing Dave Lewis and then starting him in a Premiership game.
